The one time I had that issue, it was backplane related.  What game and OS version are you using?

I use OS 361F and game Sorcers Treasures (253378A), bios 227274C.

So it's an alpha 2, not an alpha 1.  I would try a backplane replacement.  That was my problem the one and only time I've ever seen that error.
