Very New and Very Much In Need of some advice
« on: March 27, 2021, 09:43:48 AM »
I recently purchased 4 slot machines and 3 are working well but my Bally S9000 Quick Hits Black Gold Wild is not. When it first arrived it seemed to boot up fine but at the end the call attendant light came on and when I opened the main door it showed the below errors
Mechanical Reels DisconnectedLamp Projector DisconnectedMechanical Reels Not ConfiguredMechanical Reels Device Error Mechanical Reels 4 Device Error
I called the company I bought it from (it has a 6 month warranty) and the tech spend about 3 minutes on FaceTime with me and in the end said it must be your motherboard I will send you another and he did but when I connected it same exact errors.
I contacted them again and he directed me to the left corner direrctly behind the reels saying there should be 3 plugs each showing a green light and when I checked only 1 green light was lit. He said that was the issue. No power going to reels or lamp and he would send me another power supply unit. He did, but before I attempted to install it I pressed on the existing power supply unit and all 3 green lights came on but...same exact errors.
I contacted them again and he said "must be your reels I will send you new reels" and I am currently waiting for them to arrive but I don't have high hopes this will solve the issue.
So 2 questions:
1. Does this all seem normal to you?
2. Does anyone on this forum offer diagnostic services (for a fee) to help me determine the issue. I am very sure the company will send me any replacement parts I need they just don't seem to be too willing to spend the time to figure out what those part or parts might be.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

All of those are connected to the mpu via 1 USB cable that goes to the backplane on the back of the machine.  It is possible this cable is loose or damaged.  I would try replacing or re-seating the usb cable on both ends (the mpu and the reel backplane) to see if the errors clear.  You need to do this with power off.  NEVER plug and unplug things on a slot machine with the power on.  Even the USB stuff may not work because sometimes the machines do not re-scan the usb bus after initial boot.

Thanks Rick. Definitely lots of cables not connected to anything throughout the machine so hopefully they are going to get tired of sending me parts and actually go through the actual connections.

It's is just like a PC.  Look at the usb ports on the front of the mpu.  There should be a single usb cable going to the rear backplane (which is the reel backplane).  From there there are a bunch of USB cables going to various places (LED gadget board, reel controller, front LEDs for the display panel).  Since your error says they are all disconnected, I suspect the cable going from the MPU to the backplane OR a bad usb port on your mpu.
