Well Hell, strike 5.....would the 24v power supply also be the culprit? Should I try another known working MPU?

Try setting the game up without the progressive or another theme that you have that you know works.
I had this happen on one of my Bally machines a long time ago and I can't remember what I did but I think I had something wrong in the progressive set up.Doesn't make sense but I ended up getting it working.

I think you have to setup progressive on a QH or you will get progressive error.

No...
You can not run a Quick Hits without correctly setting the progressives.

I doubt that is your problem but who knows with a Bally.
Have you ever got the progressive set properly?

Have you ever tried to set up the cabinet with a different game just in case you have a software conflict?
Load in something other than your quick hits just to see if it works, see what kind of errors you get.
It probably should be stepper software and the reels will not be correct, ignore that. All I want to see is if you get the same errors...

In all this, I didn't even consider to ask if you even had the right software? Is this a 5 reel or a 3 reel machine? What is the software id you have been using?

I'm a little late to the show here but I have something to add. It may or may not be helpful.

I have a Bally S9000 and once had reel problems with these error codes, "Mechanical reels not configured", "Mechanical reels device error" and "Mechanical reel #1 device error". The problem turned out to be the reel driver optics board which is mounted on the reel. A visual examination of the board showed a severe burned trace. I replaced the board and it cleared up the problem. I'm not sure how likely it is to happen to two reels at the same time. Maybe a power surge ?

In my case when I swapped reel locations, the problem followed the reel. Something to try, if you haven't already.

I have several game & OS cards but unfortunately they got mixed up & I don't know which ones match so I'll include pictures. Hopefully some of you guys familiar with Alpha software can tell me which ones match up. I'll try the reels next if this does not work. Thanks in advance

In Bally Alpha the OS is strictly a function of the BIOS. You have to match bios to OS and for the most part, the games will work with any bios if they begin with ASG or AVG. When the gamecard has a number, sometimes only bios 300 with corresponding os in the 3xx range will work.

Just tried something different: I put 3 reels in & used a Jackpot Double Triple Electro 7s game & OS card. After a clear & then boot up, I'm now getting mechanical reels not configured, Lamp projector disconnected, mechanical device error & mechanical reel 4 device error. How is that possible when I only have 3 reels installed?
