I spotted this ad on Craigslist. Looks like sucker bait.
Not only did that give me a laugh, but it reminded me of when I purchased my first slot machine. It was in 1966, and I drove to Las Vegas with absolutely no idea where to buy one. Someone in a casino told me to try a slot route operator - one of those folks who puts slot machines in convenience stores and laundromats, and pays them a percentage of the profits for use of their facilities. I found an operator who sold me a brand new Mills 5 cent High Top for $100. I had so much fun with it I came back two weeks later and bought a Mills 25 cent High Top for $125. I was hooked after that.
Over the next 9 months, friends, neighbors and relatives deposited $1,600 in those two machines (factored for inflation that is $14,000 in today's money). I then took a five week leave of absence from work (it was the slow season) and had my first real road trip across the country, paid for by the slot machines.
10 Years later I had a business buying, selling and restoring old Mills Machines.
