IGT s2000 enhanced to a Vision

Well I decided to try and convert a s2000 to a vision. I think this might be a bad idea. I have all the mounting hardware and the screen and glass also have all the harnesses and sound board I think I need. My cabinet seems to have all the needed ports installed originally . now the problem... I unboxed everything I received and started to make a game plan then I realized the CPU where they connect to the back plane are different. The vision board left side connector is smaller then the s2000. so my question is should I give up or keep going.. Is this even a possibility?  The only reason I am doing this was I thought it would be cool to have a "gone fishing game" at our river shack. Let know what you guys think

You will need to either swap out the enhanced backplane to a standard backplane or move your vision chips onto your deluxe board.  Sound comes from the card in top monitor.

I would like more information on this "swap" It appears the vision boards has 3 small and 1 large chips and the enhanced has 4 small and 1 large on the "upper board" this is my first IGT so I am kind of lost here. What would you think the easiest way to do this is?. I figure if I keep the enhanced back plane in I can always swap back to the original game? Or should I just stop wasting my time and leave it original ?

Enhanced 1270 CPU's need an enhanced motherboard. A 500 series CPU (which I think you're calling a Vision CPU) needs the matching motherboard. Both those boards you mention are S2000 CPUs..

Just know that when using an enhanced CPU with a Vision game you will get reel tilts on startup almost every time. Vision games usually use specific SG chips and enhanced CPU's like 5XX SG chips.. It will work, I had Pink Panther on an enhanced, but had reel tilts every time I turned the machine ON.

So.. Why are you trying to make the machine enhanced (if I am reading this correctly)? Any 500 series CPU will work just fine and have little to no buzzing noise seeing the audio comes from the top monitor/CPU.

Typing this in a phone forgive me for errors


Original game 5 times pay.. enhanced board in need of some work


Bought a kit to change game to The Fishing Games... everything needed...mounting harnesses monitor ect and it came with cpu


Problem is kit has what you called a 500 cpu


The back plane in the cabinet is for the enhanced board not the 500


2 options change the back plane or move the chips over too the enhanced board and repair the minor issues it came with...


I am leaning toward repairing minor issues with enhanced cpu and moving chips..
Was told that would work fine.. but now I'm worried about this reel tilts.. I like my games to be reliable
How much work is involved in clearing a reel tilt.. is it a full chip clear or just a key turn... what is involved
Would it be better to change the back plane and use the board that came with the kit

Open and close the door to clear a reel tilt..

I'm not sure what SG chips are required for that game, all I can go off of is my Pink Panther that I ran on an enhanced with the SG's needed for the game.

Either way you go it will be pretty easy. A motherboard swap takes 5min.. Not sure what the 'minor' issue is with the enahnced cpu you have, but popping chips on that takes a second..

Minor issues is previous owner ripped off the battery holder got a new one and just haven’t had time to solder on.. as far as I know that is the only issue I might get that fixed and get the original game working right then start with the swap that way I know I’m starting with a working machine

Sometimes to clear a reel tilt you need to open door, turn JP key, close door.

Thanks for all the advise.. I repaired the original enhanced board and changed out the chips,glass installed all the needed mounts LCD  and harnesses... I works great.. Was not that bad at all to do. I am working out a couple of minor issues.  I am happy to report I do not have any reel tilt issues. First issue was that the speaker sound would not adjust and it was LOUD. Just for trial I  removed the small board on the top board of the CPU. I think it was a sound module ( looked like computer memory) Sound now adjusts like it should. The last issue I cannot figure out is the winner paid / total bet /  credit  numbers make no sense. They change as game play goes on but cannot figure out what or how the machine is coming up with them.  Anybody have any ideas??Thanks again for everyone help. Took a no working machine from CL for 150 bucks an turned it into a machine the family loves...

You may need to change the segment display type:
7.2.7 7-Segment Display Type  this much or machine will tilt/error or display will look funny.
      7-Segment Display Type = 6-6-3 (or 5-5-2)
