OK, newbie here, so be patient with me. I bought a IGT S2000 Five Times Pay Deluxe sight unseen, was not there in person had a friend there on vacation that did me a favor and picked it up, thought I was getting a good deal, seller said it just needed a battery "welded"

on the board....
well I got it home and have been trying to get this thing going after soldering a new battery on the MPU. Here is what I have encountered so far.....

First off I think Edward scissors hand worked on this machine, because there is a lot of cut wires! I actually think I may have got screwed, this could have been a parts machine!

First time I tried to boot it up got the NETPLEX is down/ no display after a lot of troubleshooting and some help from Jim at Midwest slots we determined it was a ground issue and I have corrected it and got all kinds of new errors, here is what comes up now when I power on the machine,

RAM Error
(turn reset key)
GAME EPROM CRC Mismatch -0XB000001
(turn reset key)
NON-Recoverable Data Error
(turn reset key)
Some Critical Data Will Be Lost
(turn reset key)
Press Test Switch 2-3 Seconds
-------------------------------------------------------------
Press test switch for 2-3 seconds and I get ...

Please Close the main door

---Nothing---

Can not clear that error

Door optics have been by passed or attempted to be bypassed by previous owner, if the bypass is correct I should not be getting this error, I can reconnect the optics, but how do I know if they are good?

Pull the MPU board out and see if a green varta battery is still installed on it. If so, is it leaking? If not, look at the circuit board traces where it normally goes for signs of corrosion from a previously leaking battery.

It's possible that the optics weren't bypassed correctly, but I'd put my

on it being the damage on the MPU from a leaking battery.

I wouldn't sweat the cut wires too much right now. You can figure that out once you get the machine pass the Please Close the Main Door message. More than likely it's leftover wiring from the casinos player tracking system.

I have pulled the mpu and installed a new main battery and installed a new varta battery and since removed it. There is some minor corrosion and discolored areas in the area of the verta battery location. Any way to test?

Can you post a picture of the corrosion? Usually once you start to see some itâ€™s enough to wreak havoc on the board. Not registering the door as closed is definitely a symptom of Varta damage.

Iâ€™m still a newbie, so I will let other more seasoned members chime in their opinion, but it does appear to me that thereâ€™s enough corrosion present to cause issues. I can see the green corrosion by the diodes and some discoloration on some of the traces.

I've seen worse, but there has been battery leakage and corrosion. It doesn't take much to dissolve through one of the traces. U77 looks like it has quite a bit of corrosion on it. Like I said earlier I'd bet money on the MPU board, but you won't know for certain until you swap the MPU with a known good one. That sucks because they're getting harder to find and more expensive because of this very issue.

There are some here that offer board repair. Not sure what the repair costs are but boards are getting harder to find and creeping into the $150-$200 price range for a replacement.

Just to update, I ordered a board from Jim, should be here Monday. I will post the results.

It should work. Your board is toast I see green corrosion everywhere. (On my cell phone so picture is small). Remember to turn the jackpot key when you install the new board. Make sure when you transfer the SB, SG, and VS chips, take extreme care to get placement, orientation and pins correct.

Got my board from Jim and installed it last night. I got past all the errors and it show "play 2 credits" but now my bill validator is shot! No LEDs by dip switches are on, followed the troubleshooting tips and nothing! And to top it all off as I am sitting there frustrated last night, I noticed some scribbles on the top of WBA after wiping away some dust I noticed it said "no power" so I was sold this machine with a bad bill validator among other things! A 200.00 dollar investment is turning into a 500.00 investment.

Anyway got a new validator coming from Jim! Will update when it arrives.

I went through the accounting menu as described by Jim in a post I found last night and It didn't see the WBA to do an auto config. But I am learning as I go so I could have missed something.

Just tried your instructions, found the printer, but no validator, no lights or sound out of it.

Well it was worth a shot. Best bet is to wait until you get the one Jim is sending. You may have to do the netplex autoconfig after you get it.

Well the most stupid person award goes to me!!!! While trying to help a fellow member with their WBV I discovered the connector to my WBV the red/black plug had been broke by one of the previous owners, well they just had the connections without the plastic plug and reversed the connection ie: black to red and red to black! I never noticed it, switched them and guess what ran auto config validator cycled and all is good!!!

I had a printer error after a few games when I tried to cash out just to see if that worked. Finally got that cleared, speaking is the a guide to how to adjust setting and clear errors? I played around and tried setting the date and time but I guess I am missing something, because I failed at that!

I have a new WBV coming from Jim, guess I have an extra!
