Have TITO - How hard to go to quarters?
« on: May 22, 2016, 02:03:34 PM »
I have IGT 2000.  Have it set up for $.25 with a TITO set up.

IF I DECIDED to go to quarters, how hard? what would I need?  Could I still use TITO?  Pros and Cons?

It's a for fun home machine.  I think it would be neat to have a tray full of quarters and people could put in quarters and hear them drop out.
Is it possible to have quarters drop out and still be able to pay out through a ticket?  Can you insert quarters, cash and tickets?

If too much work and expense, I might just look for a machine already set up that way.

Thanks for the replies and opinions.

Depending on how much of the coin handling equipment is already there.  But these are all the parts you will need:

1.  Coin in bracket with comparitor, harness, diverter, and optics.
2.  Coin in head
3.  Hopper
4.  Hopper bracket and plug if your machine does not have it.
5.  Coin out plastic cover.  On some machines, the coin out area is blocked with a metal plate.  If your machine has this plate, you will need the plastic cover with the coin out hole to replace it.
6. coin guide.

It is about $100 worth of parts plus the shipping.  Sometimes less.

I concur with Rick.  Its not a difficult process.  You can sometimes find kits for $75.00.  Rudy's use to have the complete kit.  The programming will probably take longer than the install.  The entire process can be done in about an hour and the Tito and payout in coin can be used together.

you will also need this.

There are no cons as far as I am concerned.  If there was a con it would be coming up with about $200 in quarters to put in the hopper.  I set mine for $25.00 in quarter payout and the rest to ticket.  That gives the satisfaction of the coins hitting the tray without becoming too annoying.  Also means you wont have to keep $1000 in quarters in your hopper.

Good luck

Can't believe no one has mentioned a coin tray if your machine is not equipped with one already.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Ha!  Good catch Ron!

YES YOU WILL NEED A COIN TRAY!

Ron is the one that taught me and sold me my first kits.

Thanks!  I really appreciate the responses.  That doesn't sound like too much to invest at all.

I also appreciate the comment about limiting pay out in cash, rest in ticket.  That would have been a follow up question.

I'll go home and examine inside my machine and try and determine what's in there.  I followed the link to Rudy's and his picture of the needed parts will help.

And yes, thanks for remembering the coin tray.  Don't need quarters all over the floor.
