IGT 701 Draw poker with video problems
« on: April 09, 2024, 04:27:20 PM »
I have an IGT 701 Video poker machine with video issues. On start up it has vertical lines and progresses to everything blurry and ends up with multiple images of the start screen.Any ideas or are these boards still rebuilt? Pictures of screen.

I thought there was a posting on this a few years ago. I seem to recall it turned out to be an IC on the game board that needed to be re-seated. Can you send pictures of the game board?
If the problem is with the monitor itself at least you know the critical components work (flyback, HOT), probably caps or failing video IC. That machine is probably before Ceronix…possibly RGB…after Trinitron era. Start with caps and close up inspection of solder joints.

I sent this board in to k-lar for repair, now I see there is one directly beneath the CRT. Should I have sent that one in also?

Maybe not. Alan will get the game board working for sure, then you will know. Any chance you can pull the CRT out and get a picture of the board? Is it a Ceronix or Trinitron? A Trinitron will look like a TV chassis, it will actually have two circuit boards inside an aluminum box, one is the old Tuner from when it was a television.

A ceronix 1492 or RGB1401 will be a more open frame. Both of those will likely have a clear label on them in the back.

You are in luck.
Ceronix 1490 is very common. I have one of those boards listed on eBay right now coincidentally. You can also use a 1492 board.
If you don’t have an image when you get the board back from Alan it probably just needs a capacitor kit, very common on those.
Its good that you sent the game board to K-Lar, I had mine serviced several years ago and it still works perfectly.

I just received my board back from repair and it doesn't have a battery. I ordered one but it won't be here until the 3rd - 7th. Will it work without one?

Battery not needed for boot on those. Only necessary for use in a casino.

It works with the new board! Any way to adjust the volume? I've tried to find it in the manual but no luck...

Did you mean a New board or the one that came back from repair?
Can’t say I know how to adjust volume, mine doesn’t have a speaker. I would look around the game, door etc for a potentiometer.

Per Alan Dorman at Klar, The volume control is on the upside down sound card next to the DIP cable input. I found it and it makes a huge difference!

Thanks for replying with that, its good information for future reference. Also glad you had a successful repair. Those games have a lot of personality which makes them fun to play.
