The V32 top boxes are expensive right now thanks to Bally selling a few hundred recently without them.  A simple fix is to buy a bally topper for any other game and mount it on top.  You can lay a strip of formica or 3M Sticker to cover the old holes and then mount on top of that.  The connections for the power pretty much just plug right in.  It actually comes out looking pretty good.

since the topic is here with the top box, I did a custom one also...finding a v32 box is very expensive..

To eastcoastslots: You have any pics of that idea you had...never seen that...

Heres a couple pics of my project I am currently working on..i recently put the a polished sheet of SS on it for a frame..just need to get some masonsite painted black for the sides..

I might be able to get you a pic tomorrow.  I have 6 V32 on the bench right now and I'm not sure what kind of top they're going with.  The toppers we've used before are actually from one of the older ballys.  Just that round topper.  We have plexi made that has a nice graphic that reads hot new game.  I'll will for sure post a pic if that's what I do with these 6.

What did you use for a monitor, is it a Bally OEM 32 inch screen or something less expensive like a regular TV flipped on it's side?

I used a spare 32 LCD I had laying around..... Only difference I see is on Vegas hits road trip it cuts off the top and bottom wheel alittle bit.

I'm going to post on the alpha area my progression... Don't wanna high jack this thread...:)

We built 5 or 6 of those modified top boxes and added a thin profile LCD back when you could get you hands on the original modules and software for a little while a couple years ago.  I remember we had a wood box built and laminated to match the bottom box and then "hooked" the module onto it, custom worked the wiring, and the custom lit up the module as well.  Fun project but I wouldn't want to do it again...bit of a headache.  I can't remember having a problem with the image cutting off top and bottom though.  Wish I could remember the monitor I went with but its been too long.  I do remember it was important to get a display type monitor with a really thin frame and at the correct ratio for the game.

You say V32, but I see several 20/32 set ups being shown. Not sure if this is what you're wondering "what it looks like".

This is a V32 with no marquee enclosure (top box???) installed. Shown with a Topper and Super Candle mounted on it.

If you're looking for a 20/32 Topbox, LA Slots has them for $800-thats JUST the steel enclosure, no monitor or fascia.
