IGT S PLUS 10x Pay paying out wrong

I have an IGT S PLUS Ten Times Pay that is paying out wrong. This game did work as it should. Then it gave a 43 error code when trying to turn the machine on. So i found out the 3rd reel was bad. So i ordered a replacement. Got it in and switched the reel basket from the original reel to the new one. I put the new reel setup in and turned the machine on. The machine boots up correctly so then I started playing it and noticed the machine is not paying out right. It's not just the 3rd reel I put in. It is all of them. You can see in the pic I played 1 coin and with the reels stopping like in the pic it paid 50. I also am putting a pic of the game chips up. Anyone have any idea what could cause this? Thanks

The reel strips have numbers on the back of them.
Depending on the theme they may all be the same or they could be all different.

If you have the PAR sheet for your reel chip. You can determine the reel order or even if you have the right strips for chips. The igt game bible lists several chips for each theme. Sometimes the drips differ between chips. Also You will want to be sure that your strip is installed with the knotch in the right place.


S2000 reel strips for the same theme would look identical but the knotch is in a different spot. You can still use these strips but you will need to offset them.


Just for fun a S2000 can take s+ chips and when you use S-+ strips,  the slot makes allowances for the different knotch location so the payouts come out right. If you use s2000 strips you still have to offset in a s2000 when using S+ Chips.

I think the 3rd strip is not in installed correctly. Not in the notches. with one coin played paying 50, there should be a 10x pay symbol on 3rd payline.  It's in between symbols now.

The reel strip is likely not in the correct position on the reel.  The other possibility is that if the reel basket is designed for a slant top machine, the symbols will not line up correctly on an upright game.

As sixcardmark stated above, a cherry on reel 2, and a 10x Pay symbol on reel 3 would pay 50 for a 1-coin wager.

If you want to verify the correct alignment, get into the test diagnostics, go to the test where you will see the #4 in the coins played window, you will see the SP and SS numbers in the displays, the spin reels button should be lit, now press it one time, the reels will spin and it will stop on the top jackpot, two numbers will be displayed , the low 1 coin amount paid and the max coin amount paid, each time you press the reels button the next winning combo will be on the reels and its amount will be displayed. you can check every winning combination on the reels to the paytable on the glass, this takes the thinking out of it and will show exactly which reel  and symbol is out of place.

Ok I used Jim's test and found out that the strips on the reels had slipped into the wrong position. They all line up perfect now. Is there a good way to keep the strips from being able to slip around. I thought of tape but i dont know. I guess moving the reels around originally testing to find out if the 3rd one was bad they must have moved some. The machine played perfect before getting the 43 code. Thanks

As was mentioned above, there are notches in the reel strips that need to align with bumps in the reel basket that hold the notches in place.  If those bumps are in the notches, the strip edges are properly tucked into the edges of the reel basket, and you have the reel strips taped together at the seam, the strips shouldn't move around.

Ok i will check that in the morning. I did not realize all of them had notches in them. Mainly because I could move all of them. So they must all be out of the slot. Thanks
