The divertor gate solenoid that helps direct coins undeneath the coin comparitor, uhh...is pretty much finished.
Chances are the plastic coil enclosure that operates as a magnet to move the gate mechanism, is cracked and brittle, due to being overheated and aged.
You know Tom, stuff in your machine is going on or over 30 years old?
So, as that solenoid coil heats up, it's really stuggling to keep the gate in it's position.
Think of it as an Olympic Heavyweight power lifter trying to hold the barbells over his head...picture his knees and arms buckling....lol
Place a WTB ad in the Classifieds section of NLG and hopefully a vendor/member will spot it and have one for sale for ya.
I'm not sure if you have to be a contributing member or not to place an ad tho.
Hee's an old photo I took of the back of a coin mech...I removed the "gate" part.
The divertor solenoid is that blue circular unit.
Basically, it's a electrical coil magnet that sucks in a metal plunger to open/close an attached gate to direct coins.
Check and see if the body is cracked.
