And that topside 5vdc regulator. Check the pins solder joints to the board it is soldered to.

Once found a broken solder connection that caused same issue with the 5vdc.

I really want to THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING. When I replaced the battery and everything worked, I sent video to my friend. It was his dad’s and they All had tears,( I heard) then it took a dump and I feel awful. I’d give him a machine but he the memories. That’s why I will do anything necessary to get this going.
After I replace the cap should I try it or wait until the mosfet gets replaced too? I have thousands of caps, and other electronic be parts. Do You happen to  b know the specs that I would need so I can look in my pile and see what’s what? Thx.

[One last question, Do You know the model of this machine or where it’s hiding?
[/b]

Universal's have no model number. Pretty much go by the mpu board number. The nameplate has a model number spot and it is blank until after 1990 I think. At that time Nevada required a date of manufacture and Universal stamped the year in the model number spot. That is why we see many say I have model number Y92, etc. The Y is for year.
Go figure!

IGT S and S-plus Reel Games / Re: IGT S+ Strange Issue

Has anybody mentioned that a persistent 61 error can also be caused by a defective 24C04 EEPROM mounted on the backplane?
This is why the board worked fine in another game. And why the board mostly worked in the original game when put back in.
Some of the second game settings on the board stuck in memory when the board was returned.
At first it wouldn't do anything while pushing the button bot for whatever reasons it started to work again and 61-1 clear is open an close. Because this machine I wired for free play optics wernt needed but I thought Id outsmart it an enable the optics. My thoughts worked but then it threw 65-3 error which I could change the 3 to a 1 but then it would just cycle everything I mentioned again. As I said I do have the clear and set chips but it would do everything all over. I think your correct because a buddy of mine had some simular issues and I replaced his MPU the board the main board slides into. I bet it'll be fun finding that for this ole heavy slant top. His was in a upright.

I'll drop the price to $55 shipped. PM me if you're interested.
