Converting 2.0 to 2.1? HELP
« on: September 20, 2021, 04:18:35 PM »
Hi guys,

So I'm trying to upgrading Bally 2.0 CPUs so that they run newer (heavier) games such as Dragon Spin or Kooza Cirque. To my own knowledge, all I need are 8GB ram and a K2000 or newer graphic card.

I got all that. Install the OS and game. Booted up after the machine run pass Bally sign. It stuck at a black screen.

Anyone have experience on this?

Do you have the topper connected to the vga on the cpu? If you do you have to connect it to the dp on the video card with a dp to vga adapter
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

You can run those games on a 2.0 with 4gb of Memory. Thats how I used to do it before I got my V32 with a 2.1. It loads up slow, but the games ran fine.

You need to make sure your main monitor is connected to the actual video card far right port. The 2nd screen goes to the port to the left. You will need a Display Port to VGA adapter like idesign said to convert the signal to VGA. Amazon sells them.

Also make sure you do a hard reboot when you change your cables around.

In my case I can't run them unfortunately. I would boot them up and stay at black screen for a good 45 minutes lol. That's why I decided to upgrade the MPU.

So update is that I successfully boot the Dragon Spin up but hooking up a Planar monitor with a DP to DP cable directly from the Graphic Card. The game plays fine but there is no signal showing on the topper (monitor). It kinda odd that the game required it and not having any display right? Or do I really need to find a monitor that read VGA signal?

I bought a converted Willy Wonka that works fine with that monitor through a DP to DP cable. So what am I missing here?

For Kooza I load it up today, same issue, on top of that is an odd error of "Game and Sound Device Channel Mismatch".

Hope yall can help.

Game and sound device mismatch means that game calls for a 5.1 card and you have a 2.1 card or vice-versa.  The solution is to just not took up the sound card's USB cable (you will need to clear, because once you boot the game for the first time, it saves the usb sound card configuration and you cannot revert back).  You lose the ability to control the sound through the player menus, but you can adjust it inside the attendant menu or the admin menus.

Dragon spins, Wonka, Monopoly Millionaire, Cirque Kooza and all other games that were designed for the 360 setup where the topper is a huge circular monitor and the animation goes around the circle requires special setup guidelines.  Do a search for the setup of wonka or monopoly millionaire in this forum on how to do that.  The topper video should be connected to second display port on the video card and not on the mpu's video port.  If you don't do the special setup necessary for the games, the minute you hit a bonus, the machine will hang.  Also not doing the additional setup will result in no video being displayed on the topper in most of the said games.

Hi Rick, i tried searching the forum but didn't have much luck pulling some guide. My Kooza Cirque works fine when got to the bonus it's just there's nothing showing even when i plug in a seperate monitor act as a topper to the graphic card. It would just stay at no signal but the game works fine, you just don't see what's spinning :( do you know more of the said "special set up" you mentioned?

make sure your topper is plugged into this port.I have a converter to VGA since the cable to the topper is VGA.  If you set up the machine/game before this was plugged in you will need to clear the machine and re-set up so that it "sees" the topper and sends the correct signal to it.

Hope this picture helps.

Also note that Kooza takes about 30 minutes to load on my 2.1.

I don't thinkj Kooza is a carousel 360 game like wonka, Monopoly or dragon spins.  Anyway here's the thread.
