The last time I saw something like that, it was a bad SIMM on the board.  You cannot physically destroy anything by using a chip, unless you put it backwards, then you zap the chip.  Also look at the pins that connect the MPU board to the backplane, and look for pins that got bent.

Cheers rick, there were no pins bent,

So I decided to pull the main board out

disconnect the new onboard battery then reconnect and fire up again

Which worked iv never been so happy to get a ram error

I'm back to square one with the ram error

I'm still waiting on thos battery backed rams so hopefully that will fix the problem.

Does anyone have a copy of the key chip?

Are we able to request here because they are not game Roms?

Sorry admin if it's not allowed

Just a friendly reminder:  talk about copying is free, posting copies of BIN files on this site will cost you your membership.

As long as No Software .BIN files are ever uploaded or passed through the NLG file system, NLG's Pm's-Personal message system, or NLG's file attachments System.

"In short keep NLG out of the actual exchanging of Programs and or Software By Keep it off of the site and the NLG Systems"
There are plenty of other venues outside of NLG to acquire Software, EBAY, UTorrent, Slot Vendors, Ask a Friend, Email, Etc...

Never even thought of torrent for slot software, but I guess anything is possible.

The gameboard looks Australian to me (diode in place of a Button Cell). Is this an Australian/ NZ machine ?

Australian machines do not use key chips
The setup is driven by on screen menus at new chip setup.
cheers

Yeah chips are all correct but they are new, when I put the old ones back in I still get the ram error,

So how do I do a ram clear on a australian machine?

If you have had the M48Z512AY chips out have you bent a pin on them?
If you have a burner, read the chips, using the correct chip type 27C4002 for U8
27C801 for U4, U5, U20, U21 and sound chip U6
27C4001 for U47, U48   ( check chip could be 27C2001 on the odd game )
The chechsum will match the chips if the chips are ok.( Last four digits of burner checksum)
will need to email reset info.

Well the bat backed ram m48z512 from the above supplier seem to be dodgy

I get a pixelated screen even with the key chip in

I threw the old chips in and gave it a ram clear and I get up to 'please power down and access logic board'

Any ideas where to go now ?
