Bally EM 1046 or 873-ZZM Step-up issue

Hi Wolf I lied when I said it was perfect this was the issue I was facing before we went backwards

The machine always displays 1 line pay/play on both the reals and the head unit

However the machine pays as if you were playing 5 lines even if you only put in one dime

If I remove the head unit/step-up
the machine pays one line only

I have pulled out the head unit and noticed that it does advance but it never resets

I have noticed an arch on the first solenoid when ever a coin is accepted you can see that the back of it is charred a bit.

below is the problem with the line unit.

switches with purple arrows need to be open when unit is reset, closed at step 1+ of the unit

switches with red arrows need to be closed until unit is at the top step.

if the lights aren't coming on showing all lines enabled, got a picture of the line unit wiper side?  There's a span of wipers that connect 6 adjacent rivets ... those should pointing roughly to the 5 rivet gap between the edge wiring lugs when the unit is reset

wipers on the line unit look good.   It's possible to put them on two ways ... yours are on right.

RESOLVED - THANK YOU WOLFTALK FOR OUR TIRELESS EFFORTS
And please correct me if I'm wrong about the resolution description hope this helps the next time
We found the following:

Yellow wire leading to the printed board on the line unit- step up unit was found broken at the solder joint
Note this wire is pretty deep you’d never find it unless you were looking for it
Caused lights on line unit to never step up

Burnt Reset coil found on the line unit step-up unit
Caused line unit not to reset after inserting two or more coins
Also caused machine to go into freeplay mode

Broken tip of the "Hold in Switch"
Caused intermittent coin lockout issue
AKA Coin not accepted intermittently but mostly after two coins
