Bally 1034 only pays as a single coin
« on: September 25, 2014, 11:42:41 AM »
Scratching my head a little. I am working on this Lucky Sevens machine and it does accept all 6 coins and the odds advances, but when it pays out, it only pays a a single coin. If I manually depress the security coil by hand, it will advance the odds follower disk and pay the second coin and so on for the other coins. Now... I cant find why the security coil wont pull in and wondering if the 200 mfd 150 W. V. capacitor could be out. Coil seems to be ok and the diode checks ok and not open. Am I heading in the right direction with this or do I need to focus in another area like the switches on the hopper. I do have the schematics on this and have checked as much as I can understand. It did work correctly for a while when I first got it but slowly started to act up. I also have a Continental and I know that the hopper resets after each coin is paid and repeats until finished but this is different and I havnt worked on one like this .... uuntil now. I also do want to know of a good source for that capacitor 200 mfd 150 W. V.(radial lead) to replace the ones I have that are broken or skeetered out at one end. Hopefully OldReno will chime in on this one.
Thanks .....

This is the 3rd day now I've tried to post on this subject.  My internet connection sucks, but I will keep trying.
OK, I have used axial caps in the place of radials and vice-versa, just make sure the polarity is correct, and that your voltage is at least equal to or higher than the old cap.
Again, make sure polarity is correct or you will get a very LOUD surprise as it suddenly decompresses or does whatever is does.
If the leads will reach, then it should work.

Please post a photo of the so called security coil...?

I think maybe we should do some posting on how the system works, with the reset of payboard after every coins' worth of pay.  It should be interesting for all of us, and frankly I get a brain fart over parts of it....  But collectively we can sleuth it out.

Dave,
Do you have any slam switches or weight switches in the top unit????
If so, then when you pull down the top board, they may change state. Or they may be misadjusted. I think they are what control the safety circuit you are speaking of.......................................  If not, then you need to follow out the wire color on that coil to see where it goes.
Also, try online or local electronics store for the caps you need.

Glad to hear I can use the radial caps. I kinda thought so and can heat shrink over the leads to protect. Also glad to hear about the brain farts. I have them too ....  like calling the "saftey relay" a security relay. The delay relay is located under the hopper and has a 30mfd cap on it. It pulls in when the hopper is running. Thanks for being persistant in replying. I hate slow IP connections.

Had this problem on a 3 coin machine, pulled the upper assembly out adjusted it all cleaned off all contacts but still wouldn't payout. Eventually found a beau plug pin that was pushed out of the socket and was touching the back plate shorting it out. Changed the pin to another spot and it was fixed. took me a few hours before I found that bad pin.

I had got fixed it last week but not had a chance to post about what I found. You are exactly right on about the beau pin. I traced the circut back with the schematics and when I got to the hopper, all switches were good. Its then I noticed one of the male pins, which has the right color code that I was following, was pushed in to the plug slightly and i could push it in more. Couldnt get it to stay in place without sliding back so I changed the pin out and it held in place. Slid it back in and it and saftey relay and odds hopper the odds follower advanced. All the payouts are multiplying as they should. Thanks to everyoune who chimed in on this one.  :applause: :applause: :applause: :hail:
