IGT BB2 power cord

Hello all,  I  have a couple of BB2 machines that I plan on keeping for a long time. On these cabinets the power cord can only be routed through the bottom and out. I have acquired some really nice slot machine stands I want to set them on. The problem is the stands do not have a hole big enough for the plug to go through.  Even if it did there is no hole in the bottom of the stand where the door is for the cord to come out of in the back or bottom.
I really dont want to drill two holes in this heavy metal stand.
Has anyone came up with a way to route the power cord differently so it can set on a flat surface that does not have a hole in it?

l purchased these for my BB2 machines. You drill a smaller hole and then use this with a half inch drive ratchet. Once the hole is in I use a round file on the edge of the metal to smooth it out.. If you're interested in this method I can take a picture of where I put the hole. I do not see any way to reroute the power cord without drilling a hole in something.

dragster73, Thanks for the reply. A picture would be great. I guess you drilled from the inside out? About what size small hole did you drill first. Also does that make a big enough hole for the plug to go through?

I drilled a small pilot hole from inside out the back of the cabinet, then I drilled the necessary hole for the knockout device to be used. I do not remember wat size that was. You can determine that depending on the knockout device you purchase. Don't forget to vacuum out the metal shavings before you turn it on. You may want to temporarily cover the I/O board to prevent shavings from getting on it and remove the CPU cage for easier drilling of the first hole.

  I had erbs on here PM me and I called him this morning and he walked me through an easier way he found to get the cord out the back.

I will try to explain how I did it so maybe it can help someone else out down the road.

  There is a big hole in the bottom left of the cabinet that goes all the way through the bottom. (Pic 1)
If you look closely you can see the carpet through the hole.
I put my machine on my hydraulic lift cart and just let that corner hang over the edge.

Then I put a thin piece of metal over that hole making sure I got it under all of the wires to protect the wires. (Pic 2)

Then I put a heavier piece of metal on top of the first piece of metal. Really dont have to do that just dont get crazy. (Pic3)

Then I used a 1/2 drill bit to mark where I wanted my pilot hole so that after I drill the 1/2 hole there would be about a 1/8 left or so at bottom. Also to hit middle of the hole. (See pic 4 and5)

Then I used a hacksaw to cut from the bottom up to the sides of the 1/2 hole and used a file to file it all smooth. There is a piece of metal in there so it takes a little to drill through it. (Pic 6)

Then put the wire down through the hole. (Pic 7)

Then I taped my wire to the back of the cabinet to hold it up in the slot while I moved it onto the slot stand. (Pic 8 and 9)

I might have to do the pics in two posts. Check below if you dont see all of them.

When you drill the hole you want to stay under the metal floor in the cabinet.

      Hope this helps some people out wanting to do this mod.

That works, but I'm not a fan of it. There is a small amount of risk that if the cord got dislodged and the cabinet cuts into the cord there is the potential for the cabinet being electrified, which could be dangerous to someone touching it.

You kind of run that same risk running the power cord through the hole like that without a grommet to protect it.

In either case the cabinet should be grounded if plugged into a properly grounded outlet and will blow a fuse or trip a breaker if a line current carrying conductor comes in contact with the cabinet.

There's supposed to be 3/4" particle board type of plywood on the bottom of the machine.
It keeps the edges up high enough so that when you move the machine around, the laminate doesn't all bust off like yours.

That laminate was already busted off when I got the machine. If you look at that same corner on the other machine the laminate is still there and it is made the same way. But on the other machine the laminate is busted off the other side in the back.  It has the wood down there just like the other one I have. A lot of times what happens is people slide the machine onto a cart off of a slot stand or end table ect. Especially if it has a flat edge and not rounded like most slot machine stands. What happens is once they get the machine close to the edge of the stand they do not raise the cart up a little higher than the stand. With the weight of the machine pushing the cart down some and it possibly being down lower than the stand anyway.  What happens is the slot machine actually drops down pretty hard and it does not have to be a big drop. It catches the laminate and puts it in a bind which pulls it out and breaks it off sometimes. I have seen this happen and I am very careful to make sure when I get the machine close to the edge of the stand I raise my hydraulic lift cart higher than the stand the machine is on.
These machines have been around a long time and there is no telling what they have went through. Where they have been stored. None smooth surfaces like metal wire shelving. On a work bench with nails and screws sticking up. Anything can and does happen to these machines.

As far as the wire coming out of the back bottom like I did my BB2 machines you could always paint the area the wire is coming through with plastic dip paint. (See pic) (Marked in blue) Then put a plastic piece with a screw in each side into the bottom peice of wood on each side so the wire can not get caught up under cabinet to be able to cut it. (Plastic piece marked in red screws marked in white) just a thought. I plan on keeping mine a long time and mine will just set where they are. If I do pull them off of there sometime or go to sell them I will make those modes and it would be up to the new owner if he wanted to leave it that way or put it back in middle bottom hole or drill new hole in back.
The way mine are now are basically like thousands and thousands and thousands of IGT S2000 machines have been out there in the casinos and homes for years and years. I am not sure if there is any metal in that area on the S2000 machines but there is not as much room for the cord as there is on my BB2 machines now.
