The model number you want is a PSA-66-001N.  Most of the ones you see are for IGT so make sure you ask for one that came out of a WMS machine.

Looking at your WTB, the photo of that printer has a cable for an IGT machine, so don't buy one with that cable, it won't work even if you switch cables.

Got it - thank you. I'll update the photo on my WTB.

PSA-66-001n is the part number for a Gen1 printer, the Gen2 part number for the correct printer for this machine is PSA-66-ST2R. The printer should be loaded with GNUSA7510 firmware and all of the dip switches should be off except the #2 because netplex firmware does not use the dip switches to control the baud rate.

It looks like I have to be a casino to download the firmware: http://www.futurelogic-inc.com/support/firmwareRequest/

Even then - I do not have the necessary cable to interface to it.

My GEN 2 has the GNUSA7510 firmware and when I print the setup ticket is says PSA-66-001N
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

But if you look at the side of the printer itself, you will see the PSA-66-STR model number. My printers with netplex firmware here also print that model number on the config. sheet. I have noticed that only the netplex firmware prints that model number on the configuration ticket, all of the RS232 firmware prints the actual model number of PSA-66-ST2.

First I wanted to say thank you for your help. Second, I got a new printer from a forum member (thanks Steve) complete with all cables, but I still can't get it to print. I still get the same printer com error message.

So at this point I've replaced all the cables from the backplane to the printer, and the printer itself. I had asked Steve to test the printer (which he graciously did) and confirmed it worked before shipping it over to me.

I think at this point I should verify that I am sane and doing everything properly. Each time I test a new printer I connect it, verify that it prints a self test ticket, go into machine setup and set the printer device as a netplex printer. It is now set to machine restart pending, so I restart it. It boots up and I have to enter diagnostic mode, at which point I go into event history and see printer com error.

I can then go into machine setup -> devices and attempt to print a test ticket, which fails with the same error.

What jurisdictional chip do you have on your bb2 and bb1?  It is my understanding that printing tickets without a TITO board is only limited to certain jurisdictions?

I have the Bettor TITO, so it should be able to print tickets. The jurisdiction is Colombia. All of this is on my BB2, have not tried to get printing setup on my BB1 as of yet.

Installed one of the new printers in my BB1 and got it working without any trouble. I am able to print void test vouchers and tickets. My suspicion is that there is a hardware problem on my BB2. I'm thinking backplane and CPU has to be replaced next.

I was reading this old post that is related to a problem I have never run into before.  At the conclusion of your thread there was no reported "fix" so I was wondering what the results were.

My problem...like yours...I have a BB2 with a Gen2 printer.  Machine works fine other than the fact that whatever I do I get a "Printer Comm Error" when I select NetPlex from my list of printers.  It's driving me nuts at the moment.

What I've done:

> Moved printer to working BB1 machine (without harness) and printer works fine with no problems.

> Moved printer with tray and harness from BB1 to the BB2 machine I get "Printer Comm Error".

> Moved back plane from BB1 to BB2 machine with moved printer setup and still get "Printer Comm Error".

> Moved BB2 board to BB1 machine with known working printer setup and printer works fine!!!

> Moved BB2 board and working printer setup to another dealers BB2 machine and I get "Printer Comm Error".

What the hell is going on here!!!  LOL...curious to know what the solution was in your case or if anyone else has any insight.

Not sure if their is a definite fix for this but I ran into "Printer Comm Error" On a non working machine I picked up. BB2 Alice Mad Tea Party NXT2 CPU. I tried unknown condition  GEN 2 printer that had a Green light OK status and tried the Netplex setting and it would not clear the error. I set it to the PSA  printer choice and the error finally cleared.
