S+ A/C coin Merlin machine help

Tinkering with an old Merlin machine. It came with a 10 meg board with sp733 & ss3631 chips. I'm pretty sure this machine requires a 16 meg board, & not sure what chip #'s. Top box just has dots in the displays. leds are not lit on the com board on the back wall of the machine, it does have both wires plugged into it though. I guess the first prob to tackle will be the lower board & chips. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any error codes showing on the lower LED displays? Have you checked all batteries? Might be wrong just to assume somebody switched MPU's out until some things have been checked

I have the bottom working with the current 10 meg board. The chips that came on it are for a 3cn double diamond. I replaced the the main board 3.6v batt. & the 2032 top box batt.

Is there a test switch or reset switch anywhere on the top box assembly? Is the power supply for it working?

could not find a test/reset switch in the top box. I do have power up top though, showing dashes on the top box displays.
 My thought is -  with the current chip set in the bottom,(double diamond sp/ss) the bottom is not trying to speak to the top, for all it knows there is just a DD pay glass up top. the bottom comes up & plays fine, the top is not reacting because it is not receiving any input from the bottom.

Looking at your glass I think it is a 3 coin DD needed for that game kit. Not sure if there is any help in this thread but it is a similar machine. http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=9562.20

Thank you, I just posted on that topic to show him how my com board wiring is run.
    I don't think the standard DD chips will work in this game. They don't support the bonus top box. ie 3rd coin wins are paid as if it were a reg. double diamond.

The AC Coin reset buttons on the S2000 are in the bottom cabinet. You  may have a white  cherry switch or other switch in your lower cabinet that is the reset for the top display. open the main door press the switch for 10 seconds and see if it resets with main door open. if not close the main door and latch it for a reset .

This is an S+ machine. Looks like I need the same SS & SP chips The Brave is running in his Empire machine. His has the same paytable & same bonus round payouts. He is running  SP0X11 & SS011915 chips.
