AVP loader dongle question
« on: October 06, 2020, 07:43:46 AM »

.......I see many licenses on ebay but they don't come with a loader. What good is this?

Also does Game King 8.3R not require a license? Mine doesn't seem to have a license dongle.

Your MPU is probably equipped with a SHOW BIOS which allows the system to function without any security dongles.  The loader flash drives are just standard flash drives with a zip file containing the game loader, you can just copy the zip file off the usb flash drive (and should to keep a backup in case you lose the flash drive, gets damaged, etc).

The reason you see a lot of security dongles with no loader it's because when you buy the machines off casinos in auctions, they come "parts complete" but they hardly ever send the software other than what is already installed on the hard drive.  So the dealers just get the dongles on the machines, but no loaders (casino techs keep those and typically use them for other things).

You are going down a slippery slope now.  Asking where to download game files violates the terms of use of this site.  Understand that this site is always being monitored by gaming manufacturers and ready to have their lawyers act upon it.  The site has received numerous cease and desist letters because of similar posts.  So if you value the information you gain from this site, please refrain from any such posts in the future.

I am honestly not trying to get away with anything here.

What is the point of this bios that lets you not need licenses?

I assume the OS licensing is bundled with owning the machine and not based on the USB sticks.

The copyright seems tied to the license and not the zip file itself. Is this the case?

The copyright is on the code itself. Doesn't matter where is. The owner of that copyright states the rights of what to do with that code. So unless you have written permission from the copyright owner (IGT in this case) you have no ownership or powers to do whatever you want with it.

That is a general idea of copyright law.

The SHOW bios is a leaked bios.  It is used by IGT typically during trade shows to show software on their machines. It allows them to load multiple games on a machine in order to showcase multiple titles within a limited trade show space.  Due to limitations on the USB bus, the machines are limited to the number of dongles that can reside on a machine, the showbios alleviates this problem by eliminating the dongle requirement, thus allowing the machine to hold a considerable amount of games on each cabinet.  The way a machine is deployed by IGT to the general public (i.e. casinos and gaming establishments) is to have a license dongle for every title that resides in the slot.  On a typical casino, you will not see more than 4 or 5 games deployed on a machine.  So all these machines that are being sold with 30 or 40 games were never meant to be out in the public space.

If this is not allowed, someone please PM me.

I am trying to load a game from zip on a flash drive onto my AVP.  I was told to to boot up with the USB and the zip file on the drive and it should install.  Am I doing something wrong?  It doesn't recognize the game on the usb.

I also tried doing it with my Ekey and trying to add in in there but it doesn't see the game file to install.  I tried with different games.

Do I leave it as a zip or do I uncompress it to the root of the flash drive?  I tried both methods.

On a side note, do I need to remove any hidden folders/files like you need to do with the diag key if you format it on a Windows PC?

I am going to assume this is a backup of a game you own (to comply with these rules).

Need to plug in Ekey7 and USB with the zip file at the same time. Then boot up and it should be automatic. You should also be able to install packages from the settings without rebooting(some people say to only do this method).

You don't extract the zip file and shouldn't need to change anything. This might require Fat32 formatted drive. Do you know if the file is a good working AVP game zip file?

Yes this is a backup of a game I own and it's a good game.  I have a few I tried with no success.  I tried plugging in the ekey7 and the usb with the file with the machine off and then turning it on.

I did format with fat32.  Do I need to remove the hidden folder (the System Volume one) like you need to do for the Diag key in order for it to work?

I also tried with the machine already booted, putting in the ekey7 and trying to add it in the configuration menus with no credits on the machine.

If it doesn't see the file at all I am going to go out on a limb and say something is corrupted.

I tried with different game files and different usbs with the same result.  I don't think they are all corrupted. It must have something to do with that hidden file on the usb?

I tried formatting FAT and FAT32 on the usb sticks.

If the files were readable, is it possible to do it with it the machine booted and in the ekey config menus instead of booting with the ekey and the files on another usb? I think I saw an option in there to add game files in the same menu where you can remove them as well.
