School Me
« on: October 09, 2014, 11:16:58 PM »
Hi,

Okay, so I have an S2000 with most of the bells and whistles..

I have thought about getting a different machine, something on the video style..

I've seen some videos of the bluebirds and some pretty cool bonus games..

I don't know much about the game king or I games?

I've seen some I games that have tons of slot games on them and some with only a few....  I think for a machine that would offer the most the game king is probably the winner?

But are the slot games any good?  Do they have good bonus games?

Do you have to buy it loaded with what you want? Or can you add games?  Can games be changed?  Is there a certain version I should look for?   School me please!

Thanks,

-TheChad

If you like poker, gameking is probably your best bet.  You can change a gameking to an i-game and vice-versa, it is just software.  The software for IGT machines tends to be more expensive in general than others.  An average i-game will run you in the 120's to 150's for a 3902 generation game and in the 200's to 300's for an 044 generation.
You can change any cabinet from a 3902 to an 044, it is just a mpu and backplane swap.  044 "kits" with a game, backplane, and mpu runs around $550 to $600 or a bit higher depending on the game.

If you like slot games, I'm a big wms bluebird fan for that.  The games are relatively easy to get and are typicall under $100 unless you buy the newest stuff.  You can upgrade a bluebird 1 to a bluebird 2 and have access to more games for around $1,200 at the very least, it goes higher if you go fancy like oled panels, widescreen monitor (which are required on all the newer games), dual monitor setup.  If your budget will allow, get a bb2 dual screen transmissive reel game, and the necessary parts to convert it to a dual screen title.  I hear the conversion is not all difficult to go from one to the other, but it will run you in the 5 to 6K range I believe.  A BB1 can be had for under 2K with a decent game title.

The Bally Alpha S9000E (Elite) stepper is very a flexible platform that is gaining popularity in the home front as casinos dump them to the secondary market to upgrade to the newer alpha 2 pro stuff.  The cool thing about the S9000E is that you can actually run Bally M9000 (the video version) video slot games in the top box, if you don't mind having the reels just sitting there.  It is an easy platform to work with and parts are now more readily available than even just a year ago.

Thanks Rick!

I'm not a huge poker fan, but I would play..  I'm more into the slot portion...   I've seen some game kings with a ton of different slot games...   But I don't know that they have the cool bonus games or not?

From what I've seen of the blue birds, they do lean toward liking that platform..

I like being able to change games with out reel strips, since some reel strips are impossible to find!

In my opinion the Bluebirds have the better slots, with that said I have two Game Kings.

Game King 6.3 has 81 games on it in which there are 13 Keno games with bonuses, Blackjack, 53 Poker games, and 14 video slots.

Of the 14 slots the Fortune Cookie and Texas Tea have bonus rounds that are popular and Gopher Cash isn’t too bad.

Below is a cut and paste with a little information on each slot game in the Game King 6.3:

Cleopatra 3 X 3 has 9 reels and 9 lines and 10 bets per line where each symbol space is a separate reel and it has the same symbols with the Cleopatra being wild and with 3 Sphinx symbols scatter will trigger the bonus round where you get 10 or more free spins.

There are 2 5x Pay Games, one has 3 reels 9 paylines and can bet up to 10 bets per line and the other 5x Pay has 5 reels 25 lines and 10 bet per line. They both have scatter pays and depending on the number of symbols showing, will determine the number of credits awarded.

Black Rhino has 5 reels 9 lines and can bet up to 10 credits per line. There is a scatter pay with 3 or more masks are showing for a progressive awards when more masks are showing.

Double Bucks has 5 reels 9 lines and has a maximum bet of 10 credits per line, and when you get 3 or more symbols on a pay line, it triggers the 10 free spin bonus round.

Fortune Cookie is a fun game in which it has 5 reels 15 lines and again 10 credits per line for a max bet. When you get 3 rice boxes scattered, it triggers the bonus round and Mr. Lucky shows up on a special video and tells you to pick some Chinese dishes to order off of a menu. When you pick the dishes it reveals what you have won you keep picking the dishes until it tells you to stop or that you order everything off of the menu. Mr. Lucky makes several funny comments about the dishes that you order.

Gopher Cash is another fun game in which you can bet up to 10 credits per line of each of the 9 lines. When you get the gopher on the 1st and 5th reel it activates the bonus round in which there are 9 golf balls and you pick a golf ball to get the bonus credits. When you pick the golf ball, the gopher comes out of the hole and plays with the ball and reveals what you have won. When you pick a golf ball and a frog come out of the hole, the bonus round is over.

The Leopard Spots video slot game works about the same as the Cleopatra slot game in which there are 9 lines and 9 reels and again the 9 reels spin independently and when you get 3 or more leopard spots, it activates the free spin bonus round. There is also a scatter pay bonus.

Lion Fish also has 5 reels and 9 pay lines just like the Black Rhino, and when you get the 3 or more divers symbols, you get the scatter pay bonus.

Super 8 Line, Super 8 Race, and Ring em’ up has 9 lines and 9 reels where each of the 9 symbols has its own reel and match according the symbols on each of the 8 pay lines. You can bet up to 80 credits for a max bet, 10 per line. Super 8 Race, when you get 4 race cars in a diamond position it initiates the bonus round of free spins and it sounds like a race car at the speed track. The Super 8 Line bonus starts when you get 4 bells in a plus sign, and the Ring em’ up bonus starts when you get 4 bells in a diamond position.

Texas Tea is a great game in which you can bet up to 10 credits per each of the 15 lines on this 3 reel game. This game has 2 bonuses round in which you can determine the bonus points. When you get 3 dividend symbols with the ‘old tycoon’ man on a scatter pay, you then get to pick any one of the 3 spaces to get your ‘dividend check’ where you are rewarded in credits. The other bonus starts when you get 3 oil well symbols on a pay line and then you are shown a map of Texas; then you pick where you would want to put your oil wells, and after you place the 3 oil wells on the map, they start pumping out oil and ring up your credits in the process.

The last slot game is Wild Bear where it has 5 reels and 15 paylines and can bet up to 10 credits per line for a max bet of 150 credits. When you get 3 or more eagles scattered it award you with the corresponding credits

What all is involved in converting a Game King to an igames or an igames to a Game King?

Is one easier or cheaper to convert than the other?   Should I look for a certain version of either?

Thanks!

I would suspect Igame to game king is easier because the Igame uses a dual row button deck and the game king works with a single row. The point being, if you plan on switching back and forth you'll want a dual row button deck up front. From what I've read before the game king just ignores the unneeded row. Good idea to get confirmation on that though I suppose...

Yes, get a dual row button machine.  At the very worst you will have to install a button next to the cash out button, it will become your "bet one" button.  The connection is already there anyway, it is just not used in the i-games.  I installed the button on my Igame cabinet so I can swtich back and forth from slot to gameking software.

For those who like to backup their software - is it on Eproms or Simms and what kind of device is needed to retain (ahem) backup copies.

The 044 platform uses a flash board where the 3902 uses simms and eproms. The 044 has better graphics and sound. Its the newest igame platform.

You can also use 3902 software on the 044 platform with a legacy board. So i would say it is somewhat universal.

Only 3802 games use exclusively eproms.  The problem is they are ancient, it's almost like playing PE+ games.  3902 games always use some combination of proprietary IGT simms and eproms.  044 games are a custom made flash daughterboard.  Forrhouse sells burners that will read/write simms and another one that will read/write 044 flash boards.  It is a sizeable investment, so not for the faint of heart (or light in the pocket department  :fryingpan:).

I have two machines with 044 using the flash boards. I think 044 is the best since you can run 3902 stuff on them with the "legacy" board but I never do because the flash boards are so great. I suppose if I had a half dozen or more machines all equipped with 044 I might run a 3902 game on one or two.
IMO, 044 is the way to go.

Edited to add;

I have Super Star Poker in one machine, and Game King 6.3 in the other. Between the two of them I am very pleased.

What games are in gameking 6.3 that are unique to that version?  I've only seen 6.0 and 6.2.

The GK 6.3 is identical to 6.2 except it also has 4-card power keno, 4-card caveman, 4-card caveman plus keno, and 4-card cleopatra keno. I really enjoy these 4-card versions and I've never seen them in a casino, but I wish I knew where some exist so I could play real money!

My understanding is that a 6.4 version exists with some old school top/bottom, 2/4/6 & 3/6/9 keno on it mixed with the more modern kenos. I don't know about the poker and slot games with that version though.

As a keno guy it makes me salivate thinking about it.  :nerd:
