I dream of Jeannie sound problem
« on: January 04, 2015, 07:43:11 AM »
The bonus round and make a wish round has no sound I cleaned the SIMM card with a eraser, still no sound , purchased a SIMM card for for bonus round still no sound.  I have posted earlier about this problem, I thought it was fixed but had trouble hitting bonus round so I though it was fixed, my error.  I took a pic of my board, I thought maybe I was missing a SIMM card see attachment.
I have a feeling it is the 3902 board, would appreciate any ideas, I really like this game and want to fix it.

Where is the pic of your board? I can see if all the simms are there.

Looks correct. There is only one in where there are 3 slots. You should have one under the mmlb and one on the mmlb. 3 simms total for that game.

I would think if the sound only doesn't work in the bonus round,, that you still have a software issue. You may have mixed American, International, software or a corrupt simm or chip. I would either get a hole new set of software, or try to find someone to check it out for you.

I had the exact same problem last year, sounds work but not in bonus round.

Evidently there are 2 versions of the sound simm for IDOJ. There is a "58" version and a "30" version sound simm.

I thought i had a bad sound simm because of the lack of sound in the bonus round, so i got a known working one from Buzz on NLG to try. I put in his sound simm and same thing, no sound in bonus round. His was the same "58" version like mine that i was trying to replace.

Then for the heck of it i got a "30" version sound simm to try,  and it worked 100%.  So there seemed to be a compatibility issue with the sound simm version "58" and the rest of the IDOJ game chips.

There are a couple of differences between the 30 version and the 58 version sound simm. I don't remember exactly but stuff like the 58 version had "reel spinning" sounds when the reels were spinning, but the 30 version made a different sound. Minor stuff. But most importantly i was getting the correct sounds in the bonus round now.

So whichever sound simm you have (58 or 30), get the opposite one to try.

I would suggest to send a PM to Buzz, along with this post, and see if he can help you out with the sound simm version you need.

I changed out the sound SIM card from a DS 000058 to a DS000030  SIMM card. The sound works perfect on the bonus round. It's fixed, what a great feeling to finally get it fixed.  I couldn't have ever done it myself, without the help of this site, glad I'm a contributing member

It's great to have my dream of Jeannie  working,  As It should
