Newbie looking for printer help

Recently got a S2000 machine from an auction and I really know nothing at all about it.  It appears to play and function well.  It is coinless and the bill validator works.  The machine didn't come with a reset key so I replaced the tumbler with a reset button. The printer installed in the machine appears to power on but I get  printer comm error if I try to test it.  In the menu it says that the printer is enabled.  I have included a picture of the wire bundle coming out of the back of the printer, one of the two harnesses is not connected to anything - I assume that's at least part of my problem.  My question for any of you good souls is - now what do I do?

the power connection (pic 1) is right (the one plug is not needed on your machine).
is the gray ribbon cable connected to rear of printer and the connector on back of housing?  You can slide/pull printer out to see both ends of the cable.

Yeah, it looks to be attached to both ends.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Try doing a "auto Config", It's in menu "4" and I think it's 4.3
do you have paper and does printer grap paper and feed it?

Be advised that even if you get the printer operational you will not be able to redeem them in your machine without installing a TITO (Ticket In Ticket Out) system. See the tito thread stickyed to the top of the S2000 topics to learn more.

C'mon Rich - "if" I get it operational - think positive.  I will try an autoconfig when I get back to my machine, but I think I've already exhausted all the options I though made sense while scrolling through the menu.  I do not have paper yet some is on order, I know that could be an issue but the printer comm error didn't sound like it would be corrected by adding paper.  Stay tuned.

OK you are correct when you get it working I just did not want you to be disappointed when the BV spit it back out and would not accept your newly printed ticket.

if you have no paper, you will get a comm error since the printer is basically off-line.

That's great news, still haven't gotten my paper yet. Hopefully that will take care of it.  Thank all of you guys for your help.  But don't go too far, once I get this done I have some more questions for ya.
