Red white and blue Hopper Problem
« on: January 17, 2015, 10:36:22 PM »
When I turn the machine on and close the door it goes through its startup and then I hear a buzzing sound for about 5 seconds then a second buzzing sound for about 3 seconds that comes from the hopper and then the machine gives a 3300 error.  I have tried the test setting on the hopper and it does spin during the test mode, but just buzzes during non test mode.

I have also checked the hopper for jammed coins and it is clear.

Any suggestions of what might be going on.

Thanks

A 3300 error indicates an Empty Hopper....how ,ay coins (approx) are in the hopper? You need to have 30+ coins in the hopper for it to function normally, generally speaking, give or take a few...

You said you tried the test mode on the hopper and it "spins"...does it spit out coins during the test?

What size coins are you using. If you have quarters in a nickel hopper it won't work. I have a few machines with quarter hoppers that will pay the slightly larger .984 token but not the slightly smaller token. Also on the hopper motor there is a release handle. You can hold it in and turn the motor by hand (or finger) to watch it turn. I think you can run the hopper test with the door open to watch it. Depending on your chip I think you push button until 3 in coins played then turn key.
Thank Ya Thank Ya Very Much.

Since the hopper motor runs during test, but does not spit out coins, then it has to be a coin jam. They can be tricky to see sometimes.

Pull the hopper out of the machine and dump out the coins. Visually check for anything (coins, paper, tape, etc) jammed under the knife (at the top of the wheel). Next, turn the hopper sideways and look at the motor on the back (the square thing). With the hopper handle towards you, the hopper brake is a tab on the side of the motor (it will be facing you). Squeeze this tab and it will release the brake and the hopper can be spun freely by hand (use the agitator to spin the wheel). This should release any coins or whatever that could be jammed.

Check it out and report back.

Sorry for not getting back to you.  I sent the hopper back to Mid-Ohio where I purchased the machine.  They replaced the hopper at no charge and the new one works great.

Thanks for your help
