Changing payout chips?
« on: February 24, 2015, 12:01:18 PM »
Need help.  I'm new to this website and new to slot machines. That being said I am looking to change my payout chip to get a higher payout percentage chip.  I have a IGT s2000.
Thanks, Bob

Hi, and welcome! The payout is determined by the game program, which is the SB chip. There are multiple payouts built in to the SB chip already, usually between 87-97%. To change the payout, you will need a Key chip.

If he had an S2000 playing older games like I do (double diamond). Then it might have a chip. I got this off the S2000 page:

As noted in this post, a special SB chip numbered SB001000 may be used in combination with a legacy S+ SS (REEL) chip to provide paytable information to a S2000 machine (thus allowing you to use a S+ kit in an S2000 machine).

Wouldn't that be right Roz?

Thanks for replying.  However, I need to know where to get the key and how to use it.  Is there an owner's manual I can purchase to help me thru this and other maintenance issues?
Thanks, Bob

I believe the instructions for Key chip are located at the beginning of the S2000 forum section, if not I can email them to you.

Key chips are available through most of the vendors here on eBay. Most will come with instructions. There are different Key chips for different machine set ups. If you can post a pic of your MPU, showing the eproms, we can tell you which one to purchase.

Shaggy - Yes, it's a possibility of course, but I did not feel the need to complicate the issue further if it is not needed.

I'm still considered a newbie but find it very easy to change options on a S2000. You can buy game kits and change to a different game very easily. Game kits come with glass, reel strips, and game chip. I change games every few months.
