I game problem
« on: March 15, 2015, 06:08:42 PM »
I have a I game that is having some strange problems, after you play the game for 20- 30 minutes it will shut off and then start the reboot start up.  Also some times it will lock up the screen, the screen will flash the picture but you turn the reset switch or any of the buttons it just keeps flashing.  I have to turn the power off and reboot, for it to work. I checked the lights on the left side of CPU tray, when it's locked up all the lights are yellow except the far left light it's red.  I popped another game in the machine it played for 4 hrs without a problem, I suspect a problem withe the CPU board ?  The game is neon lights, check all the EPROMs, they are seated solid.

When you change games, do you change the whole MPU tray, or just the software?  If the problem goes away when you swap mpu trays, then there's your problem.  Probably some caps are borderline and are giving you issues.

You probably have a bad mpu then on the one game that is giving you issues.  It is definitely not software, otherwise it wouldn't start up at all. Does it have the green battery?  Maybe it corroded and messed up your mpu board.  If they are not enhanced boards, the first thing I do is remove the green battery.  I only keep one on an international board, so I can play international 044 titles.

No Varga battery, this is the first time this has problem ever happened, always worked good with no problems.  I went ahead and swapped out the games again with the problem game,  I played it for about 2 hrs, last night, lit worked perfect as it always had, no problems at all.   I will try it again today and advise, getting tired of playing it .

Problem solved, I had moved the machine and the CPU board was not seated good enough.
