Can I get some help identifying this game?
« on: March 20, 2015, 08:12:53 PM »
Can anyone identify this machine?  It has a NETWORK ENABLED MOTHERBOARD...which means?  My wild guess is that it's supposed to be plugged into something else.  Will it play as a stand alone game? :banghead:

It appears to be an S+ with the round top addition. Not sure what a network enabled motherboard is but I'm gonna move this to the S+ topic area. Some of the S+ gurus will chime in with more info than I can provide

Can't really tell, the picture is too blurry.

Can you post pictures of the inside of the machine, especially the mpu board? And they need to be clear and well-lit. Another picture or two of the outside also. Are there any tags or idplates on the machine anywhere, inside our outside? Look for identifying marks on the glass.

It's an S+ machine that was modified with a video screen and some kind of a network connection to tie a bunch of machines together.  Over the years I remember some people have picked them up at auction from raided slot parlors and the like.  Without the back-end computer, you'll never get the video/network stuff working.

If the S+ guts are still in there, you should be able to remove the video screen and revert it back to an S+ machine.  If the guts are missing, it wouldn't be impossible to do that, but it would be more work, potentially having to find and replace wiring harnesses, etc.  A number of good, clear pictures of the inside of the machine (both the inside of the door and inside the base of the machine) will help us to determine just how much work will be involved to change it back to a standard S+ game.

Based on the various connectors going in to the top of that board, I'd say that they have a custom circuit board in place of the standard S+ MPU board in that tray.

You mentioned that this is what you're "looking at" -- is the machine yours, or are you considering buying it?  If you're just at the stage of considering buying it, I'd pass on it -- it's going to take quite a bit of engineering to get the machine back to a standard S+ machine, and there's no telling what they did to the wiring to make it work with their after-market system.

If you own the machine, well, you can try to get it back to being an S+, but it's going to be somewhat of a chore.  It would be very helpful if you already have an S+ machine so you'd be able to compare wiring and stuff side-by-side with a working S+ machine.  Without having a working machine to look at as a guide, it's going to be very difficult.

Thanks everyone for all the information.  I did accidentally leave off two pictures.  I have attached them but I don't have the experience to even tinker with this but Luke every other machine I have "it looks like it would be fun to play"  :Tongue_Out:

This machine reminds me of something I read a little while ago.

Some of the industry analysts and gaming engineers expect that slot machines in the future will be more like slot terminal devices, controlled from one central server. The machine itself will not contain some of the expensive parts like a complex mpu or game software, it will have just enough hardware to work the video display and sense the player's actions pressing the buttons. You'll have playing credits setup on your account with the central system, won't insert money into the machine. No coin hoppers. The credits on your account will be available to you to use on any machine in the place or in sister properties. The machine will act and perform outwardly like you expect them to but it will all be controlled remotely. Will be better for the casino in many ways, such as no money handling on the casino floor, easy to change the game that the machine offers just by loading different software for it in the server. No more moving machines around, hauling out non-performing games to bring in others.  Costs to produce these machines will be reduced. Technology advances and money reasons drive this industry to ever lower costs, ways to reduce number of casino personnel is always being looked at.
