IGT S+ Gold machines

I was having a discussion with a friend the other day about the plating on the S+ machines I have. The machines are gold colored instead of the standard chrome. He insisted that they were gold plated, I was thinking they were maybe brass plated or just gold colored. I'm curious if anyone knows any information about the gold colored machines, specifically how they were plated and why some were done gold and others chrome. Thanks

First of all, the plating is brass electroplate, there may be a rare exception out there where someone spent the money to actually do one in gold, but you'd know it because gold just has that "look"
Some casinos, like Ceasars Palace want'd their machines in gold instead of chrome. Me? I like the gold...

Right on, I had a feeling it was some sort of brass plating. Theres no way they would spend the money to gold plate them. I've got a couple older Bally's that are chrome and a garage full of gold S+ slots, I like the gold better too lol

I have a 5 of these video slot machines from 1998 as well, they are made by Casino Data Systems. I've never heard of them before, do you know anything about them?

It was just a preference of the casino...it's not real gold, lol. Caesar's was probably a good example of a casino who wanted "gold" machines...

There was a CDS section on the old forum (here) -- I think it was an oversight that a CDS section didn't get created for the new site that we're currently on.

ok, so they arent very common then are they. probably not worth very much either im guessing. ive got 5 of them im going to try to restore, just curious where i would be able to ask questions about them if i needed any assistance

There were quite a few "gold" door machines and some even had cabinets done the same. I once had a Tabasco machine like that. As far as value? About the same as chrome on the open market. If they're not all scratched up they might be worth more in parts than having to spend a bunch of money to fix them, depends on individual condition and you're the judge
