Nice Haywire machine.  :applause:
I have not see the test button in the location where yours is, so thank you for the pictures.
Let's see what you get when you try your set chip.

Hello, Thanks. It is a member of the family for sure! My Dad had won a very large payout on one in Vegas back in the early nineties, so my Mom got him one for an anniversary present. It is kept in his den at my mothers house, we keep his picture from Vegas on top of it. Im glad the pictures went through so everyone could see what im seeing. It has been fun working on it, learning a lot. Even the Grandkids are excited about seeing it up and running. I appreciate everyones input.

Don't worry about the candle flashing. It will do that until a paid game is played. It would alert the Casino that an OPEN DOOR was in progress. Pull your board back out and look at the test button. There is a green and a yellow wire. Make sure they are connected. Now look at the wires going from there to the bottom motherboard. Unplug and reseat all of those plugs. I'm still leaning on bad connection from sitting. Push in on the locking tab and pull up rocking it. Do it a couple of times to clean them up. Trying to prevent an unnecessary clear and having to set all the home settings. Very doubtful that push button is bad but check with continuity tester.
Thank Ya Thank Ya Very Much.

I may be wrong but I don't think any of these older machines had bill validators so the only thing the set chip will do is denomination and for some reason I think I remember something about it being set differently

Lets hope he ordered a CLEAR chip, and not only a SET chip. A SET chip will not fix the issue.

I will check out switch and plugs, got my Fluke handy. I ordered both chips, just in case they would be needed. Weekend is here so I will try to get some results.

I have a pile of S + boards that I have been testing. I just ran across the same problem on my machine. I got the 61 and it would not change. I found the issue was a loose fuse the bottom one on the power supply. somehow I must have knocked it loose and after correcting the fuse the machine then would boot and go to 61 - 1. the funny part is during all this trouble shooting I used a clear chip and a set chip and worked fine but still only stayed with the 61.
I hope this helps someone in the future.

Just found another board and this one will not change from the 61
If I find a solution for this one, I'll post it.

Hello, Checked all 3 fuses again, still ok. Received my new "Clear chip", but they didn't include a "Set" chip. We are not using a bill validator. Machine currently uses tokens that came with it. Should I pull MPU and run "Clear " chip? Or should I wait and reorder a "Set" chip also? Also checked all plugs and reseated them. Thanks.

You do not need a SET chip since you do not have a validator. Do you have instructions for your Clear chip? If so, then go ahead and perform the clear. After the clear, the machine will be restored to "factory" settings.
