UBA Protocol for WMS
« on: September 18, 2015, 07:16:02 PM »
So I'm trying to run some UBA 10/11 with ID003 v2.51-49 (for the first time) on a couple of BB1's. I know it's not the latest version but should still work right :Scratch-Head: . I'm getting bill validator com error. Jumpers are set for RS232 on the UBA's. I don't know what the problem is. :EmoticonHelp4:

There are jumpers on the left side of the backplane that control the protocol for the validator.  They are labeled J1, J2, and J3.  They should all be in position 2/3 for rs-232 protocol validators.

Are you sure they are flashed with protocol ID 003?  You can download the UBA tools from JCM's site and verify what is flashed on the validator by connecting it to your laptop with a standard usb cable.

I have the full JCM Tool Suite and a Bluewave for flashing. They are actually UBA 11's so they're chipped not flash and chips are for sure ID003. I think I may have just figured out the problem. It just dawned on me that WMS protocol is Photo-coupler iso not RS232 correct? I probably just need to switch the jumpers back. I'm so used to setting up Bally Alphas with ID003 / RS232 that I just naturally associated ID003 with RS232. I'll find out for sure after work today. Also, I see there is an ID003WMS v1.51-15, i'm not sure what that's all about but it's only for UBA 10 not 11.

Try jumper 2 in position 1/2 then.  If it works, then the UBA was set to Loop not RS-232 mode.
