Alpha 1 to Alpha 2 conversion questions
« on: December 02, 2015, 07:46:36 AM »
I'm starting to get my feet wet now with Bally machines and I want to begin my conversion project. Since this will be a huge investment for me, I want to make sure the steps I take don't cost me unnecessary money so I have a couple questions:

1. I already have a few Bally reel machines in my game room but I want to purchase one specifically for this conversion. The research I've done has led me to the BALLY ALPHA ELITE V20 (single 20" monitor) machines solely because I can't find a V20-20 (dual 20" monitors) machine for a decent price. I noticed that the top frame that has glass in it is the same exact size to fit a second 20" monitor - Is this correct? Would I be able to use this cabinet to make a basic 20-20 config for Alpha 2. I'm also going to add the iDeck and video topper to it as well so that I can play all Alpha 2 games.
If using this machine will work for my Alpha 2 conversion i'll be buying it shortly for $550.

Part two of my project will include building a custom cabinet to house the 32" monitor so that I can swap out the top 20" half with the 32" custom half for games like Michael Jackson and David Copperfield

Another question I have has to do with the video topper. Can you just use a small 5" monitor for this so I don't have to buy the actual topper for $400?

And the last question I have has to do with the 32" monitor. Can you use any touchscreen monitor for this or do I need to get the specific monitor for it? There's a huge price difference between them.

I look forward to beginning my project.

Also, does anyone know someone that is selling an ideck and the Michael Jackson or David Copperfield software, I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Thank you
