abandon cherry switch s2000
« on: December 30, 2015, 08:21:04 PM »
Hi - Due to door line up issues / bracket placement, I am unable to depress the cherry switch plunger when the door is closed.  I've been using "old reliable (aka duct tape) to hold the plunger down and prevent door open M messages when playing; however, replacing the tape every three days is getting old.  That plunger is really strong.

I've already removed the optics and was sampling around with what/if scenarios.  In fear off blowing out any boards, I was hoping someone would know if I could connect 1 or more of these wires together thereby eliminating the mechanicals of having to have the plunger depressed.  When I pull wire 1, 5, or 4, individually, I get a door open M.  #2 didn't seem to do anything (though I don't have a light inside the machine either).  Thanks in advance.

You know if you pull the button on a cherry switch out it will remain out and act as it would when it is pushed in.

I spent an hour and a half trying to line up the cherry plunger to the door bracket and another 30 minutes making that picture.  Thanks, Rich.  Goes to show you don't know what you don't know.

 :thank_you:

It also looks to me from your picture that the cherry switch bracket is reversed. If you remove the switch, turn the bracket around so the switch hole is flush with the front of the frame your switch should function correctly.

You're correct. That just happened to be my last ditch effort in trying to line things up.
