Bally Reel Games / Ballys S5500 button and candle lights shorted
« Last post by Fredpav on Today at 05:17:30 AM »
First off, I’m new to this.
I bought a Ballys s5500 machine that was working but not working well. With the help from Spin and Klar I was able to replace the battery and the power supply and the machine ran like new. Only thing left to do was to replace a few of the button bulbs and top candle bulbs that burned out. I replaced the small button bulbs with #86 and 295/555 bulbs in the two large buttons. Everything worked!!! Two days later I turned on the machine on and the button lights and candle lights worked but then went out. The top 5v breaker blew and I rest it twice but no lights. I then replaced all the bulbs with leds and still no lights. Can anyone give the next steps to trying to solve this issue. The game works perfectly and the fluorescents all work.
Thank you
Mike

CORRECTION

My machine is saying DOT Fail    NOT     ROM  Fail

I just bought a Klein MM35 Digital Multi-Meter to see if I can check some of the circuits to see if they are OK......But I don't know how to use the Multi-Meter.  Could anyone give me a brief CRASH course on how to use the Multi-Meter like to check on the circuit for my sound for instance?

I am attaching a couple of pictures of my speaker and what it attaches to.  How do I use the Multi-Meter to check if the circuit the speaker wire plugs into is good?

Thanks,

Don

I am having issues with a machine I picked up.  It has static buttons and I am having issues with the main door not registering close when it is.  I also saw that the button panel has some communication with the M door but I don't have anything going back to the main backplane board on the J56 Belly door input like I do on my other machine with dynamic buttons.  In addition there is not the powered board on the left side panel of the machine.  I guess that is because it is not a dynamic button machine.  I have replaced the cherry switches on the machine on the side door and nothing I do will get rid of the M door code.  Any suggestions on what to do next?

Bally Alpha Reel Games / Re: Bally Alpha Elite error
« Last post by sakwilla on Yesterday at 08:45:32 PM »
Have also tried different OS Card as thought it might be the card with the issue but not.
Does anyone know how to access the hard drive on the Alpha Elite?

I have a spare hard drive from my Bally 22/22 and tried to connect it as noticed a black connect in the CPU but dont think it worked.

If anyone can offer ideas or how to check hard drive connection it would be greatly appreciated as always :)

One other piece I’d like to ask about is this Gray switch that I must have snagged my shirt On and broke off part of the plastic housing. The Arm assembly solenoid was loose, So I tightened the screw. This was done in the same time frame that It died,(just noticed it).
