The Progressive Project
« on: February 24, 2016, 06:35:29 PM »
So, I have officially gotten the Spectrum and got it installed and configured thanks to the kind folks here on NLG that documented the configuration process. My setup required just a slight modification from the original instructions that I found here for multi-denom setups, but once I figured that out, it was smooth sailing...

Now my dilemma is to figure out how to modify the player tracking frame to support the glass, while allowing the display to remain viewable. Any thoughts/suggestions?

I was told that there was an OEM kit that was made for this type of setup, but does anyone know where I could find one? And of course, I will need to modify the face-plate as well to allow for viewability of the Spectrum.

I do know there are many posts showing the setup, but not much around the framing and clean-up. But, any thoughts or guidance you may have would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Ken from Ohio Gaming was gracious enough to locate me a bracket and between the other posts I have seen, I think I now have a firm plan in place to move forward with completing the project. Once I get the materials, I will provide some additional photos of the finished project.

Thanks to those that helped me out either through PM or on my other post!

As promised, here is a new image of my S2000 w/ Sizzling 7's kit. Progressive meter has been disassembled and is temporarily in place until I can get the ABS plastic for the surrounding edges and some new bits for my Dremel to clean up the bracket and take care of the cover.  :dancing_2:

That works. But I think you can get that top glass with the prog cut-out. The spectrum would be mounted up top and a basic player tracking cover where you have it now.

Like this but in 16".

Is the interior bracketing for that type of display setup readily available also?

Looks like he has the brackets for a 16", the display is just mounted upside down. I had to make some for a RT when I had those spectrums laying around. The far right digit also gets cut off a bit with spectrums in glass made for mikohn, so I had to use my trusty crowbar to adjust.  :cool_thumb_up:

Can't say that I have ever seen one for a 16" I have all of the mounting hardware, but I agree that a "behind the glass" option would be best. Unfortunately, that would only work for one game unless I had one for each game, so this made the most sense so I could use multiple configurations with the progressive meter.

For sure, swap a kit and still have the prog.  :cool_thumb_up:

I hacked my Mikohns into where the player tracking bar goes. I am happy with this. Although it did mean cutting into the reel shelf.

Most of the display glasses have the meters glued to the back. This is find if you are a casino with deep pockets and plan to run the one game.

You might also consider putting the meter inside of a topper.

Of course you could go with an overhead sign .......

 :cool_thumb_up: Jay!

Looks very familiar to what I am having to deal with, outside the hacking into the reel platform part.... I am able to take about a 1/16 of an inch off of the bracket to accommodate  the Spectrum display thank goodness.

You can also take the spectrum display outside of it's case. That will leave you more room

Indeed qbert.... That is exactly what I have done, leaving only a little trim work to be completed on the top of the bracket. I just picked up some more cutting wheels for the Dremel, so time to party!!!!!  :dancing_2: :dancing_2:
