hopper issues
« on: June 02, 2016, 10:40:29 PM »
just put a hopper in my 044 game king. The hopper shows up in the diagnostics and no tilts.
conventional hopper
I can make the hopper level show full
I have all of the little "i/o" cards in the game and have made sure they are inserted fully

the hopper motor makes zero movement in test or boot up.
if I put the hopper in and out no motor noises

the hopper has what I assume to be a sort of servo /reverse controller - there is a LED on it, that LED never blinks or lights up in anyway.

so is my issue a control board problem or a game problem?

also of note my candle wont light in diagnostic mode, every thing else lights and tests ok it seems game plays seemingly 100%
I pulled out some of the IO cards and pluged them back in and the candle lit up (I then had to reboot the game due to the serial problems and meter disconnect tilts)
game booted back up no issues. - also if it matters or not my mechanical meters are not advancing with coin drop or bill drop.

There's a hopper test in the diagnostic menu where you can get the hopper to dispense coins.  If it doesn't work, it is either the control board or the motor.  The hopper doesn't do anything during power up, so that is normal.

Are you plugging and un-plugging parts while the machine is powered on?  These components were not meant to be hot plugged and you could cause serious damage to your machine.

The candle has two bulbs, one is for service and the other one is for tilts.  When you first power up the machine, is there a blinking candle?  Have you checked the both bulbs to make sure they work?

A lot of the times, the meters on these machines are disconnected and the connector is jumpered.  Most people hate the annoying clicks.  Is your meter assembly connected?

the hopper for a S-2000 or I-game has a 24volt dc  motor on it. did you make sure both sta-con connectors were in fact connected to the motor?   there is a white knob in the middle of the two connectors, you can rotate this CW and CCW , this will move the pin wheel, this will eliminate anything from being jammed  and not allowing the motor to turn, lastly,  you can unplug the connectors from the motor and hook up a meter to them and run the test, 24 volts should show up on the meter , if not then you have a bad connection in one of the plugs , or one of the plugs is loose on the control board, or the control board is bad.  if you get 24 vdc on the meter, then the motor is probably bad.

 Thanks Jim helpful as always

Sounds like my controller board is bad I am going to test 24v at the hopper pins

As for the candle I also found a 601 to swap out and test that
