bill validator connections
« on: June 28, 2016, 01:40:10 PM »
got an s- plus , validator not working. doesnt even cycle . the bar coded sticker says wba 11, a green sticker above says wba 13 ( see pic).  i have a s2000 with a working wba12.  the wba 12 does nothing in the s plus. the non working one does nothing in my s2000.  the s plus  BV connector has 3 plugs hanging off the back that go no where.  there is one connector connected, see pic.  i think the power supply is missing?  anyone have a pic of where it is, and how it plugs to the BV and the chassis?

thanks

The one that is plugged in is for the yellow bezel light that says "Insert Bills" on the front of the machine.  The power supply is usually mounted on the side of the bill cage next to the validator.  On game change FAQ page, there's a picture of my machine with validator power supply.  It is the silver colored "brick" mounted sideways with the 6 horizontal ventilation slots.

The first link (Rudy's deal) is the correct one.  The other one is for the older DBV200 model.

If you're able to put an "actual" WBA 12 in the S+ then the harness has had to be changed. If it's from an S2000 without the correct software and the power supply it's not going to work. Get the Power supply and we'll start from there.

Take a photo of the back-end of the validator.  The connector on the back will tell us for sure if you have a WBA11 or a 13.  Look under the validator, is there a 32 pin eprom on there?

You have a WBA 13.  The power supply should work either way, it's the same for the WBA 11 anyway.  But the WBA13 is a much better validator.  The eprom is not labeled with the software version, so I can't tell what bills your validator will accept or if you have the right software on it.  The last version available will accept all bills up to the new $5, but not the new $100.  That's the best you can do on the S+ as it was never designed to accept tickets.

The eprom label has "44F1" written on it, which looks like a checksum, that crosses over to software release ver 3.60-03i that was released in Feb 2006.  There was a newer software release called 3.75-03i in Feb 2009 that you might be able to upgrade to, I think that was the last release for the -022/023 protocol.

The WBA in your S2000 probably uses the protocol id -024, that won't work in an S+ which uses id -022/023.

Here is the JCM software document for your software 3.60-03i, listing the bills it recognizes:
