Igt slant top front panel buttons not working
« on: November 07, 2018, 03:39:04 PM »
My front panel buttons on my slant top stopped working. The lights work I have plugged and unplugged the part on the I/o board. They are not recognizing pushes in the diagnostics. Any help?

You're in the right area.  Probably an I/O card problem.  If reseating it doesn't solve the problem you'll probably need to replace it.  Do you have one or two rows of buttons?  Which one is it that doesn't work?

You should have two I/O cards, one for cabinet I/O which goes to the meters, hopper, candle, jackpot reset switch, and some other cabinet circuitry.  It is the one with the smaller connector (3 rows of 16 pins).  The door I/O controls the buttons switches and lamps and has the larger connector (3 rows of 32 pins).

I'm not sure where they're located on a slant top, but just wanted to make sure you knew there are two of them and the one with the larger connector is the one that control the switches and lamps.

some of the most recent s-2000 slant tops that I have worked on had the I/O cards located in two places, the double row I/O's were located above the reels mounted to the underneath housing of the upright back panel, usually these have yellow LEDS  lit when power is applied, I have seen two of them ganged together.  the cabinet I/O was mounted on the left side wall  near the power supply.

pictures of these areas would help us determine where your cards are located.

This is an igt video poker slant top. There is the 32 pin io card under the mother board and the cabin io card on the left side. I do have yellow lights on the 32 pin io card...all buttons are lit up but no response from them being pushed.

That's the p/n on the front side, but it should be ok.  Post some pics like Jim suggested, that may help.

What occurred that they stopped working? does everything else seem normal?   is this a game king?  or a single type poker?  did everything work previously?

This is a game king, we had a main door open issue after having to change the battery on the game board. Got the main door bypassed using a jumper. Buttons were not working once we were able to get back into the game. Have key chipped it a few rimes. Buttons are lit up however even in diagnostics they don't recognize being pushed. T

I would like to know how you jumper the door optics? the problem with slant top machine is that they have several door security features, any one of them could have caused the door open message. you have the main door optic, kick door security, the top panel security and the coin in areas security and finally the wba security .   so five potential areas that could give you the door open message.

I replaced the ir optics and checked all the different switches, they were all working that I could tell. I used a jumper on I believe the j11 plug on the left 2 green wires it allows the door to show closed and by pass all of those features.
