IGT S/2000
« on: August 12, 2019, 03:48:50 PM »
I've got a bug that I can not figure out. S/2000- 5 reel, 9 liner. Other than the cpu and the mother board and Io Boards, what controls the reels spin?
Mother, cpu, and all three I O  boards, power supply, communication distribution box replaced with known good ones. (Man I'm just swapping and guessing now.)
After clear and key, reels roll backwards (up instead of down). Will not go to key chip configuration for programming setup.
I been on S/2's for 12 years. Gone through and restored over 1 thousand units. I've never had this issue. I sure would appreciate some solid solutions.
Thanks,
Slotman

Only had reverse spinning reels caused by two things:
1) Bad I/O card most likely cab I/O.
And your probable winner:
2) The red LED display  showing Credits, total bet, etc.
Change out the display and I bet your problem goes away.

Is it an upright or slant top? Is machine type set correctly in the key chip menu?

The reels will spin without the cabinet I/O being connected. They plug directly into the MB. Can you provide info as to what MPU, software, clear/key chips are being used? A pic would really help. I'm just grasping for straws right now because it's not entering Key chip config. Have you tried changing the eeprom on the MB or made sure it hasn't been removed?

If you threw that keychip into another machine, will it enter the key config?
I'm suspecting the data on the Keychip got corrupted.

If it works on another machine, then the only thing I can think of is do a double clear and THEN a Keychip.

Also, if the keychip works in another machine with a different MPU, then the MPU in this this one is highly suspect.

Final swap would be to try to keychip this suspect MPU in another cabinet to rule out the motherboard being bad.
