Well - not good... tried the 17, worked for a minute, got into the keychip screen. Suddenly the touchscreen stopped working. Tried restarting and reseating the base chip. No go. Now I have a touchscreen communication failure. Any thoughts?

Did the white plug fall off the back of the touchscreen board?
If so, put it back on and tape it so it doesn't fall off again.

Nope. Checked cables to screen, and out of the backplane. Everything seems tight. No pinched wires or ribbons either. :banghead:

That’s what I’m worried about. It’s a new lcd upgrade, hard to believe that there’s something wrong with it already. At first the error would come up and then go away for a few seconds, and the touch worked. Then it came back in and now it’s staying on tilt. I’ve been considering upgrading the game to an 044 so I can load superstar poker, but I wasn’t quite ready to do it so soon. Is there any way to diagnose without parts replacement?

the odd ball try,


remove the validator and check the t/s again.  it also runs on the netplex and can mess with t/s controllers. also printers.

I’ve heard that. If the ts works with one of them disconnected does that mean that said device is bad?

Ok... well I’m definitely going the wrong way fast. I tried disconnecting the bv, no change. Then tried the printer, turned on and gives me the printer comm error and the ts error. Plugged in the printer and turned on... printer error and ts error still there.


I haven’t the slightest on where to go next.

Cycled the door close, and now I’m just back to the touch screen comm issue.


I was thinking about just going ahead and doing the 044 upgrade. Does anyone have any thoughts pro or con about doing this? My thoughts were that something happened when I tried to do the key 17. Maybe I damaged the base chip or mpu while swapping? Since the upgrade comes with the main board and the backplane, and  thinking that there is nothing wrong with the lcd itself, or the printer or bill validation for that matter -besides wiring, is there any thing that wouldn’t be replaced with the upgrade kit that could be causing this?


On another note, when I try to do the calibration, I don’t get the dot to start the process. So again, thinking that the mpu or the motherboard are the culprit.


Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Most likely the MPU. If the base chip was damaged it would not boot.

Pros of the 044:
Better graphics
Ability to enable many more games on multi game flash boards.
Fast boot available with GKB39 boot chip & key chip is integrated into it.
Play 3902 games with the addition of a legacy board.

Cons:
Expense.
Must change flash board or re flash yours to change games.
Find one or two that you really like & stick to them.
GK6.0, 6.2, 6.4. are excellent as well as Super Star Poker.
Collecting single title flash boards will get expensive quickly.
