I had some extra LED lighting strips and a few extra Wemos so I decided to add some lighting to the Game King. Fairly easy to do and only requires a bit of soldering skills.
Parts used:
1 Wemos D1 mini
WS2812B- 60 led/meter (it gives a consistent glow against the wall). I like the strips from BTF lighting.
Wire- I had 20 gauge on hand which should be able to run 9 amps easy
Power supply- i'm currently using a 5V 3A and it's plenty bright. For 187 leds at full brightness (all white) you would need 11 amps but that's a bit overkill. Unless you plan to use them on bright white all the time any other combination of colors will have a much lower current draw. I plan to swap it out with a 5A once i find it in the garage.
Just a reminder that the LED strips are directional. Note the direction of the arrow on the strip when cutting and soldering
Software- I use WLED which is free software to control the lights through wifi. There are plenty of tutorials out there but it's really easy. Just download the latest file version of WLED. The one you want looks like this- WLED_0.XX.X_ESP8266.bin. Download another program named "ESPHome-Flasher". Hook up your Wemos D1 mini to your PC with a usb cable and use that home flasher software to install that WLED bin file you downloaded. Once that's done just download the WLED app on android or iphone and you'll see WLED on your wifi. Then configure it to your home network settings.
Below is my wiring diagram which shows the length of wires and LED's that fit perfectly in the game king. I added some to the front glass to shine down and taped it on top so it wouldn't reflect into the belly glass. I added some all the way around the rear of the cabinet (except the bottom), and 2 more in the cupholder.
