Using a Coin Mech in an S+ instead of a Coin Comparator
« on: December 29, 2022, 12:00:27 PM »
I've got a question, but not quite sure how to word it.

So, here's an attempt....does the machine know the difference between having a Coin Mech installed versus the Coin Comparator? Is there a lockout circuit that somehow prevents the machine from crediting coins through the Mech even though it sends them through the Coin Optics?

Reason I ask is this...built a game and decided to use the Mechanism instead of a CC. At first it accepted all quarters sent through it and gave the proper credits. Then it just stopped working, although they were all directed into the Hopper through the Optics.

I put a Coin Comparator in and the machine works as it's supposed to.

So, why would it work for a while and then just stop? I tried several different Coin Mechs and none of them would allow a Credit. Even tried different Optics.

I've used these in machines before without any issues, but this one doesn't work at all configured in such a way.

So, is there something that tells the MPU to allow credits when pulsed by the CC that the Coin Mech cannot provide? And if so, is it configurable somehow?

Hope that makes sense.

I have NEVER tried any of this so I'm forced to ask a few questions.

Given: When you had the coin mech in there, it worked for a short while. Then "It stopped working".

Guessing: I assume the coin MECH you used, did NOT need the harness - That would be the same as pulling the harness off of a CC right?

Unknown: How many coins were getting registered before you'd get a code [21]?  :Scratch-Head:
