Bally Monte Carlo with some problems.
« on: January 15, 2015, 03:12:25 AM »
Hello !

I have a Monte Carlo that need some fixes(3 problems that i see).

1.Reels move kind of slow when i pull the handle.First reel often stops right after i have pulled the handle.
2.Middle hold button doesen't work so the reel wont hold.Sounds like something short circuits when i push the button. The other 4 buttons work fine.
3.Only pays out for 2 cherrys on the right side.Nothing else.Left side is ok.

I can try and make a video of the problem and show you if that helps :)

Congrats on getting a pretty rare game.  A video or pictures will always be helpful.  As far as the first reel stopping too soon, I would remove, clean and lubricate the entire reel package.  I would pay special attention to the clock on the right and the linkages.  My 2 cents for now.

Rise,
Look closer at the problems. It sounds like the machine is NOT a Bally but a skill stop. (Hold Button)??
If it ain't broke.....Stop trying to fix it.

Lindam:

As I understand it, and I am no expert,  the Bally Monte Carlo is a rare exotic export.  I have been searching for one for so many years that I just gave up.  There are several Bally slot machines that have skill stop type buttons.  These are HOLD buttons that keeps the current stop in place while allowing the other reels to spin.  A friend of mine has a few Monte Carlo games.  I play them when I visit him but he will not part with one.

Perhaps the elders can clear this up but I am almost sure that we are talking about a REAL Bally slot machine.  I have attached a picture of one.  Not mine since I dont have one :-(

Respectfully
Ra

Since sloths move very slowly I will be patient while I wait for your pictures and video.  Pun intended.

Fast video posting for a sloth.  Nice game.  The reels are slow but not terrible.  This is especially so for a 5 reel game.  Perhaps the actuating spring is old and tired.  I changed mine on my 5 reel Medalist and it made a big difference.  They to locate the source of the sound when you press the non working Hold Button.  A set of jumper cables would be helpful in this search.  I hope the real experts chime in for you.  I will do what I can to help you until the calvary arrives.

Yep, looks like a Bally to me.  Should be a kick.  You might want to put a drop or two of oil in the reel hubs.  You can see a hole in them so just a drop or two.  You might want to back off the clutch screws also on the reel hubs a turn or two.  Nice machine and GREAT PICS!!!

You do have a burnt shorted solenoid which is in the hold circut. If you replace it and plug it in, and it enerizes and stay on without blowing the fuse, you will burn it up again. I should release after the spin I would think. Check to see that all yourfuses are correct for the circut their in. If they are ok and it still stays energized, I would check the push button to see if it is faulty and closed all the time. Other than that with out wireing diagrams, I would start tracing the wires to find the closed switch that is not opening. Have not had a great deal of time on a hold machine, but thats where I would start. Gool luck ... wish I could find one of them.
