S2000 power supply

Seems IGT made a few different power supplies. I have several different in my machines. Like CP9825  40009001, CP9826  40009003, and MCP8011  40009090 and the pin locations are different. Does anyone rebuild these or is it better to just buy replacements. The first machine I bought came from Worldwide Gaming and the power supply went bad during warranty. They had me send it back to them and they rebuilt it. It was the same one, as I marked it. Does the back and forth shipping out weigh just replacement?

Depends on what you're paying for replacements. I think average is around $40. Glad Worldwide to care of you though, they don't have a good reputation on this site. I should say the old site I guess, they took a beating over various issues and disappeared a while before the new site came to be.

Every power supply, regardless of the manufacture,  has the same pin outs. If not, you would have to replace the whole wiring harness to accommodate each manufacture.

It was around 8 years ago. I got hosed by them a time or two. Glad I found the old site and was able to learn. I will post a picture later explaining the pins. the 9090 is wired differently than the 9001

it all depends on what is coming out of the pins and weather or not they are being used??   

here is a typical pin out from a S-2000 power supply.

pins 1-2-13= =13 VDC

pins 3-14-15= +25 VDC

pins 4-5-16= B ground

pins 6-17-18= A ground

pin 7= 5volt out

pins 8-9-10-12-19-21-23- no connection

pin 20= 115/230 vac in

pin 22- neutral

pin 24=115/230 vac in

pin 11= chassis ground.

Thanks Jim, what you gave is the 9090 exactly. The 9001 has a pin 9. I don't know what it does, but the 9090 will not power in place of the 9001. That is why I was wondering why the different power supplies for a S2000. I have 11 machines with a mixture.

unless I don't understand what you are saying, the wiring harness in a S-2000 machine has no connection to pin 9, so even if you put the power supply with something connected to it inside the power supply, it wouldn't matter because the machine could never know that it was there??..

First off, I want you to know I'm just trying to understand not start any problems. I have a Munsters and it had the 9001 power supply with the pin at #9 and when I put the 9090 without a pin at 9 in the machine it did not work. When the supply was changed back to 9001 the machine worked. This is why I'm asking. If what you are saying is that no S2000 has anything connected at pin 9 on the machine side of the wiring then I'm completely lost as to why the different supplies. The 9090 has no pin at 12 either but the 9001 does.

So, knowing the pin outs, can one be reworked to work for the other? Like moving wires on the plug or whatever?

I guess I am lucky.  Have swapped many power supplies, never a compatibility issue.  They have always worked, no matter what brand, etc they are.
