To Clear or not to Clear, that is the question
« on: February 08, 2016, 02:09:01 PM »
OK, here goes.
If I want to remove the Varta 3.6v battery, do I have to use a CLEAR CHIP and re-set the system ??  I can't seem to determine from previous posts which is correct.  Please advise.

Hey Doc, no I don't think so. You do have a 500 series board correct? From what I've read they just remove  the battery and put the mpu back in.

No Don't have to clear. Like Shaggy said just remove and replace board. Done that many times not needing to clear.

Well, I guess the results are in and the consensus is:  NO NEED TO CLEAR.

Thanks to all.

The only time you should have to clear is if the accounting denomination is above the denomination you want to set the machine at. IE the accounting denomination is set at $1.00 and you want to set machine to play $.25 a clear would be required. Any other changes can be done with a key chip.
