Coin Return?
« on: July 08, 2020, 07:07:29 AM »
I have an IGT Multipoker PE... Maybe someone can answer. When I insert 5 quarters it's fine, then if I insert a 6th quarter, it sends it to the hopper and doesn't return it to the coin bucket. What may be causing that? Thanks in advance.

The coin diverter is stuck.
That is the large coil attached to a plastic flap that opens and closes to either allow the coin to hopper or to coin tray.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Sometimes they burn out and the cheap fix is that the tech wire ties it into position.

Ok, so I looked and I see a blue, I guess it's a solenoid? that moves up and down a plastic piece, So I assume that's what you're talking about, it was kind stuck, so I moved the piston up and down about 10 times to get it freely moving. If that solenoid is burned out and not moving that would be the issue? So to fix it would be replace the solenoid? Because I tried it again and still drops #6 coin into the hopper. so closed or open if I wire tie it? I guess I should say extended or collapsed position is where it should be?

Depending on the type of machine this may be reversed:

Generally speaking with the machine off the solenoid is extended (often spring assisted) directing coins to the tray, when the machine is ready for coin acceptance it pulls back allowing the coin to go to the hopper.
When the solenoid burns out all coins go to the coin tray (can you say free play) so that is why they are often wire tied back in place. Since the machine sits in coin-acceptance mode most of the time the solenoid is almost always on; subsequently the reason they burn out.
If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.
