Are there any credits on the game ?

There are a number of settings that cannot be changed if there are credits.

I'm still looking for info on how to get the machine to stop looking for a progressive link.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Generally speaking - as it varies from game to game you are given a screen that says Progressive Y/N and sometimes its combined with the screen that says number of coins.

It is possible that you have a version that is only progressive which is something I have never seen.

As this is a players edge machine you can always run a Clear Chip which brings it back to factory settings by wiping the memory.

You replace your game chip with a clear chip, follow the on-screen instructions and then put the game chip back.
You will also want to get a SET chip when you get the Clear chip, as that will be necessary to reactivate the bill validator.

On the PE+ (and S+ slot) there is a 4 pin connector on the mother board for the progressive interface. Tthis is the fixed board) that the removeable MPU plugs into. It is on the right hand side. The pins are N/C, GND, Coin In, Data .

The message that the progressive link down comes from the absence of data on that pin. You do have the option of getting a Mikohn standalone progressive and installing it - which would fake out that pin. In the PE+ there is no place to mount the progressive display but you could snake the cable out of the cabinet and build a box for it.

Maybe this information will help.  Your pictures of the board show your SW1 dipswitch.   Looks like all the switches are off.  I have helped a couple people with other problems and trying some of the different switch settings has helped.  Most of the time it is difficult to determine if the switch is off or on by the printing on the switch - they can be installed 180 degrees out - either way the switch is either closed or open.

I would try flipping the switches to the opposite side - EXCEPT Switch 1, that is for the AC input power frequency select = 50 or 60 hertz (Hz) - try not to change that one, it needs to stay at 60HZ.

With that said we should be able to assume the device is installed correct and the numbers are correct, and the OFF printing is correct.

By flipping switches 2 through 8 you should see a change to the machine according to the tables/pictures attached.

I am hoping switch 5 will correct your progressive problem.

You can use a DVM (digital voltage meter) to check the switches to see if they are on/off - closed/open with the board removed and checking with the meter on the OHMS setting. A reading of '0' means the switch is closed, a reading of 'OL' or any other value - say above .5 OHMS - would mean the switch is open.

Good luck.

So I wanted to give a little more info on the machine.  The machine was in a friends garage working as a recreational machine.  He placed it into a storage unit and gave it to me.  So it did work as a free standing unit at one time.  In the base of the unit I have the following box which I assume is the progressive box.  I see there is a programming button on the side, but i can't figure out how to get into any menu for it.  I have attached some pics of the box.

That looks like fun.  This is out of my knowledge area.  I'm sure others can help from here.

Good luck,

That does not look like any progressive I have ever seen.
Given the number of wires I would think that this is the keyboard decoder specific to the Keno machine. This however is a just a WAG (wild ass guess).
The regular PE+ has only a few buttons - Bet 1 / Max Bet / Deal / then 5 hold buttons and usually a cash or credit button.

Most of the PE+ Kenos have a light pen that is used to touch spots on the screen, it uses the CRT scan lines to select the spot.
That involves a very small board, (the size of a saltine cracker)  and one more chip on the MPU.

I would start with a Clear and a SET chip.

Jay,
The problem I have is I don't know what chip clear to buy.  If someone would guide me in that direction I would give that a go.
Thanks,Shane

Hello,
I have not been able to get this going yet.  I think I found the chip, but still haven't been able to get to the menu to have it stop looking for a progressive.

Are their credits on the machine ?

At this point I would suggest getting a PE+ clear chip.
Contact the vendors on our home page and one of them will fix you up.
I would grab a set chip at the same time as you will need this to activate the bill validator when your done the clear.

I don't have any idea about getting your machine out of progressive mode other than to try the clear chip that Jay suggested, and even then who knows,
that said, I have 4 of the same machine that you have. As far as I can tell in your pictures mine are identical to yours (or at least they were...)

I have converted mine into video poker for my dad and my brothers, and in doing so I have the original chip set for the keno that
should work with the keyboard you have on yours, because I had the same thing on mine.

If you would like to try switching the chip set out (only 5 chips) I would gladly give you the extra set I have, I have no need for them so they are free to you if you want to try it.
If your up for it, just PM me your address and I will send them out.

After you change the chip set you will have to reset the game, there are easy to follow directions here on this site that someone can link to hopefully.
