looks connected but just in case cut the white cap off and re strip and twist together the wires.
Let them that don't want any, have memories of not getting any.

Those are the 2 wires that need to be connected
In the picture.
What about the door optics?

Here is what is connected to the door part

The little round brass part that is out of focus in that picture, attached to the red and white wires, is half of your front door optics -- that's the receiver.  Aside from obviously broken wires, there's not a lot that we'll be able to tell with a picture.  The other half of the door optic set is found on the door itself, and when the door is closed and latched, the two pieces (one emitter, one receiver) should align, letting the machine know that the door is closed.

Inspect the optic on the inside of the door that swings open to ensure that there are no obvious broken wires.  If you have a digital camera or a cell phone, with the machine's power on, you should be able to see a small purplish glow from the emitter (the one with the black and red wires going to it, located on the part of the door that swings open) on the screen of the camera/cell phone when you hold the camera in front of it.  You can barely make out that purple glow in the following pictures:

If you do not see a glow, it is likely that the emitter on your door optic is not working, and I would then suggest ordering and installing a replacement set of door optics.  The 61 error will not clear unless the machine sees the door as closed, and it will not see the door as closed if your optics are broken.

If you do see a glow, it's possible that the receiver is broken (unlikely, but possible), or that your optics aren't aligning properly when the door is closed and latched.  Also, and this probably should have been mentioned earlier, when you're closing and latching the door, ensure that the latch is moving all the way down -- if it isn't all the way down, the optics won't be aligned, and the machine will think the door is open.

OK, the 61-1 error is gone.  I saw that the wires on the door sensor were not the best so I cut out the bad part and reconnected them.  The error left.  Now the 0 on the coins played is flashing and nothing will do anything.

Very good.  Now, is there a sample coin in the comparator?  If so, your machine should now be ready to accept a coin.  Close and fully latch the door.  The LED display on the front should go blank for a second or two, which is an indication that the machine has seen the door as closed.  Once the display(s) come back on, try dropping a coin into the coin slot.  What happens?
