V32 Wonka setup
« on: February 04, 2019, 07:07:59 AM »
Does anyone know how to setup this wonka game?  I got it to play but when I get the bonus it freezes.

It's a fun game otherwise

What vid card are you running? CPU/ram? I was told that you need a K2000, or if running a 620 you need a green prog dongle..

I'm not a Bally guy, just going off of what a buddy told me.

Ok. My buddy had a lock up issue too. I will see why and report back. I thought it was the prog dongle with the 620 but that's not your case.

Another thing is you have to let the topper images load completely before playing.. Takes some time after the machine 'seems' playable.

Yeah.. Need K2000 AND you need to wait like 10min after the game loads up before you play it.. It will load all images on the topper and be good to go, won't freeze up then.

Thanks! let me give that a try - I'll clear the machine and reboot it - set it up again and wait for the graphics on the topper.

This is also an alpha 2.0 -  I know I've been told stuff like MJ Icon won't work on a 2.0 but it does for me if you just are patient and wait for it to boot up.   Icon takes about 45 minutes to load but once it does it plays perfectly on a 2.0 box with a K2000.

Ok.. I was told only 2.1 with maxed ram and it'll run smoothly. Worth a shot with the 2.0.. Update if it works and how it plays.

I tried to clear and restart and the game boots but no monitor picture on top.   My guess is the thing is 2.0 board doesn't have enough power to run the game.  When I get my hands on a 2.1 I'll give it a try again.

Really nice game though.

There is one other thing the sound doesn't seem right.   I've never played the game in the wild but it seems like it's just way quiet.

anyway
thanks for the help

2.1 CPU and it'll work. I was told that by 2 peeps today when I mentioned trying to run it on a 2.0.

Thanks - I actually have the 5.1 board and setup but never put it in because I never needed it.

I have to decide if I'm going to go in the hole though for a CPU for just one game.   I have all the other V32 stuff and it works fine with the a2.0

like I said if one comes around for a couple of hundred I may buy it - but this is the only game title i've come across that doesn't work with a 2.0

Here's a trick for all those games that "require" the 5.1 audio card.  Unplug the USB connector from the 2.1 soundcard but leave the RCA cable connected (the one from the backplane to the sound board).  The sound will work and you won't get any error, but you won't be able to control the volume level through the game field menu if the game has one, you have to control volume through the attendant menu.

Actually, I knew that using the audio jacks for the sound worked on the 5.1 games without using the 5.1 card (as this was the way I was using my frankenalpha).  But then I got an A2 pro cabinet, which doesn't have the wiring for analog audio.  So I wired the analog audio to the input jack that is near the 2.1 amp board (the one used by casino's to inject their own sound into the machine).  That worked, but one time I forgot to plug the cable and it still worked, and that's how I came to figure this out.  XD.

For the record -

game setup
host - yes
machine number - 1
 number of machines - 1
machine connection id - 1

Here's what i didn't have setup correctly

machine setup -
both serial number and asset must be set to 1

Once I setup that the game works perfectly - Alpha 2.0 K2000, 4 gig ram

all is good
