Need Help Identifying Slot Machine
« on: February 09, 2020, 03:53:42 PM »
Hi, I have a dollar slot machine that I'm having trouble identifying the manufacturer.(see pics) The machine takes small (Susan-B) size US dollars. Above the reels is a "pathway" for large size (Eisenhower) dollars that are visible through the glass. A "conveyer belt" is behind the pathway that I think cycles the large dollars into a separate holder?
If anyone has any ideas regarding the manufacturer or other insight, it would much appreciated.
Thanks! Lance

Lance,

I believe the game you have was made by Games of Nevada. You may find their markings somewhere on the glass. Is there a metal serial tag on the lower right hand side?

Yes, it is absolutely a Games of Nevada machine. That big phenolic contact board on the huge electyromechanical stepping switch (not a stepper motor) is a dead giveaway. They are really electromechanical machines, using gob of relays and step switches, virtually no solid-state electronics.
Here's another earlier NLG post on a GON machine: look at the details of the electromechanical relay logic, and the hopper, and you'll see what I mean.http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=10772.msg58344#msg58344
I want it!!!

AWESOME, good call guys! It does appear to be a "Games of Nevada" machine. (I never heard of them before) Following the links to some older NLG postings, there's even a similar dollar machine that "Neonkiss" showed in a short vid. And mine may be available in the future???  :Scratch-Head:

Thanks again, Lance

IDJAMIN, is it working? They can be a pain for  "just folks" to repair as virtually no parts or schematics are available. BUT if you are good at soldering and wire tracing and  low-tech stuff, most any part can be repaired or substituted.
I'm in Portland, OR. If you are in the Northwest's Washington, not the DC kind, I might be interested in helping out, or acquiring it (if you're gentle on me). I need a long-term challenging project to while away my golden years, rather than prowling the streets stealing hubcaps.
(Wait: they don't make hubcaps anymore, do they?)

Hi SolidSilver, yes, the NW "Washington". As I recall it does power-up and I think it just kept spinning? It's been a while since I messed with it. And will probably be awhile before I get back to it.... too many other "projects".. lol. I'll definitely post something when the time comes. thanks, lance

Send a picture of your top cabinet so I can identify the reel service spin switch. I'm wondering if it is in the service position.

That big brown board in the last picture ABSOLUTELY identifies it as Games of Nevada. It's the control timer out of a Games (of Chicago, Clarence Schuyler prop.) flasher machine. Games of Nevada bought the company when Schuyler retired in 1967, and since it's using original Games parts I estimate this machine dates from 1968-1970. The toggle switch cuts off power to the timer motor so that you can turn the timer by hand and verify all the functions.

The Games of Nevada is similar to the Bally EM except for the reel which is easy to figure out. I have had one for years and worked out all the kinks. Message me if you need help.
