Aristocrat Power Supply Board
« on: February 12, 2020, 01:41:23 PM »
Hi,

I´m searching for a power supply board for my Aristocrat Esprit Gold Mine.
Does anybody have such a board, or knows anybody, where I can get one ?

Regards,

Michael

I don't know where to get a new board but I have been able to repair mine several times. I have attached the power supply documentation.

After manually testing the reel motor, I would suggest replace TR1...

I did this already.
The Motor works and the TR 1 is replaced.

Nothing changed...

You can test TRIACS using a multi meter, (see https://instrumentationtools.com/test-triac-multimeter/)[/size]. There is a TRIAC on the I/O board (TR1) which triggers the reel motor (see attached image). You might want to test TR1.

Just to be clear there are two TR1's for the reel motor, one on the I/O board (see image above) and the second on the power supply. You changed both of them?

Exactly !
I changed the TR 1 on the power supply and the TR 1 on the I/O Board.
Do you have another Idea ?

OK, there's another approach. You can manually try triggering the I/O line for the reel motor. Only do this at your own risk, but note that I have done this on mine.  You can make a small probe out of a pin, 2.2K ohm resistor and a length of wire (see image).  Carefully remove the 6821 PIO chip (IC5) on the I/O board. Tie the loose wire end of the probe you created in step one to the ground pin on the MPU board, power up the machine without IC 5 inserted and touch the probe pin to IC5 pin 4 socket. This will drive the I/O to logic low (0) and the motor should run. If it doesn't you likely missed something in the wiring connections or the TRIACs.

If this sounds too hard try monitoring IC5 PIN4 with logic probe make sure it is toggling between high and low when the unit is powered on..

Hm, my problem is: How can I measure something, when the boards are in the Unit when the machine starts....

I know getting to the cards is really tough, I attached a picture of how I am working on my machine. Before you got through this, you should make sure this is a reel issue, what exactly what are the symptoms when you power on the machine? Do all three tower lights all blink slowly and the tilt indicator lamp is illuminated? Do the reels release?

Ok, that is a good Idea to do it this way...

My problem is, that only the motor doesn't start, so that the reels doesn't come into the Home position.
When I push the Home Switch, than the lights went on, and the machine waits for coins.

If you power on and don't manually click the home switch, what exactly happens? Do all three tower lights all blink slowly and the tilt indicator lamp is illuminated? Do the reels release?

No, the tower light is green.
No tilt lamp on.
The reels can't release, because the motor doesn't work...

The reels are released by the solenoids on each reel arm, the spring tension propels the spin, the reel motor stops the spin.  On my machine if I latch all the reels and then power on all the reels release and spin. The reels stop when the reel motor drive the cam to re-latch the arm.  It is curious yours doesn't behave to same as mine.

Do you own a logic probe?
Do you own a multi meter?

Yes, I had this as the machine works.
Noppe, the motor doesn't work, so that the Initialization is not possible.

Yes, I have a logic probe since today :-)
But I don't know how to work with it.
And yes, I have a Multimeter.

Today I brought the I/O Board to a guy, who will revise it.
